Someone has probably already mentioned this but has anyone else been listening to Sound of Gaming on Radio 3?
It is available on the BBC Sounds App. It's a very highbrow look at video game music, presented by a video game composer. It's been on about 3 weeks now.
It's really nice to have a program on posh Radio 3 that takes games and game playing seriously.

No, not seen this, thanks for bringing it up.
Do they go right back to the beginning with chiptunes, or is it just since the intro of CD soundtracks and fully scored games?

So far it's been mainly the orchestral modern scores to be fair.
There was an episode last week on indie game music.
This week they had an orchestra doing the Tetris theme which was quite fun.

I'm on episode 2 now. It's not bad, but I'd like to hear more from some of the longer standing people in the business. When you have the likes of Rob Hubbard who've gone from the very beginnings through to current music, it offers a bit more on the history. Good to hear at least some of the more limited tunes from the cartridge era of N64 though - getting a decent tune within the restrictions available really made the good composers stand out from the crowd.

I will need to have a look into this at some point. I do think some of those games that are less in the public eye, but still have some outstanding musical tracks in them from the past 20 years should also get a mention.
