I've got my 'TheC64'

It's great. The built quality is excellent. My concerns about the keyboard were unfounded it's rather good, not quite as good as a real Breadbin original C64, but pretty close.

The included games are okay, but the real beauty is loading your own. And it's a sinch on TheC64, just add put them on a Flash drive and put the flash drive in the machine. Game and programs can be loaded in two ways, either directly via the 'Carousel' mode, or via the 'Classic' mode. Classic mode takes you to the full C64 desktop like on a real C64.

From here you can insert disks into the virtual floppy drive, tape drive or cartridge port and run them with the original C64 commands.

It's a pretty neat clone of an original C64 and I've been having a blast with it so far.

What is the general consensus about this. Worth getting?

It's a better product than the Mini. If an improved controller, a functional keyboard and a full size case (but with basically the same tiny board inside) are enough to swing it for you, go right ahead.

On the other hand, I'd suspect that most people, who've not already consigned the Mini to dust-gathering-cupboard status, will have figured out how to update the firmware, use their own keyboard and controller, and add their own games, in which case there's nothing that new on offer. It's just a case of whether you want it all in one package really.

The '8-bit Guy' has a review on his channel

I'm impressed with mine, I never owned the Mini so a full size model was a no brainer for me.

As well as opening it up, he also tests the latency using a program he wrote on a real Commodore 64 on TheC64, which runs it just fine.

Adding your own games is straight forward. I haven't fully tested multi disk games yet, they're a little fiddly, but they do work.

I got multi disks to work, you do it via the 'classic mode'. Swapping discs is easy bring up the menu button, access the flash drive and swap disks.

I've still had to make CJM files to turn on true drive emulation to get some games to load. Platoon was one of those games.

I got one for Christmas, to address a few concerns...

The keyboard is really good, and has the same feel, and click, of an original C64/VIC keyboard.
The emulation (and especially the sound) speed is much better (a lot less lag) that that on the mini (and that goes for C64 and VIC 20 emulation)
The joystick has been given a real metal shaft and microswitches, and now feels really solid, with a propper click to the movement.
Gridrunner (for the VIC) has been addes to the built in games list, but I've now got a USB stick full of a variety of original and new home-brew games.
Pentagorat plays perfect on this for me (not something you can say for every emulator).

As you can probably guess, i'm both impressed and happy with the Maxi version!

Anyone else been playing around with the VIC 20 emulation side of it? This is defenetly going to be my goto VIC emulation platform now, as well as the C64...

Been out a while now. Anyone picked it up? It's not technically available in the US yet, so I haven't gone out of my way to get it. What I am hearing has been mostly positive, so just curious to hear any first hand perspectives.

Yes, several people have posted directly above you in this thread with their comments!

Funnily enough, I didn't see those posts when I did mine. They sure are there now, so that's a bit odd. Anywho, I'm moving in a few months and think I'll wait until I settle into my new city before picking it up. One less thing.

My main reason to pick this up is to see if I can find and play Alternate Reality: The Dungeon. That was absolutely my favorite video game as a kid. Nostalgia does often blind us, so I suspect my experience with it now will be quite different. Still worth trying to recapture the glory, in my opinion.

Finally took the plunge and picked one of these up recently. I can load most tape and cartridge games for the Vic 20 from a USB stick but some of the Vic cartridges (such as the Scott Adams adventures) have 2 files to load rather than one. Has anyone got any idea how to get these running as I haven't been able to work it out?
