Ghostbusters II - Retro Remake game released

Ghostbusters II (Cpc/C64/Spectrum/Amiga/ST)

Image
Ghostbusters II - Title.

After finishing remakes of Robocop (Robocop 2D) and Superkid (Superkid Returns)
we have just completed our latest remake - Ghostbusters II.

Image
Go underground to discover a river of slime.
The original games first level of the underground airshaft had a hard
difficulty level so alot of players never seen the next 2 levels,
hopefully our remake is a little easier - use all available bombs & shields
and don`t hang around for long.

Image
Rise above it all with the Statue of Liberty.
The Statue of Liberty level is a side scrolling shoot`em-up, the key here
is to preserve ammo and collect as much slime as possible.

Image
Face Vigo at the Museum of Art.
The final Museum of Art level is a mini isometric adventure game,
help save the baby and defeat Vigo.

Love it!
Especially nice touches like the movie images (which I remembered were scanned in even on the old 8-bit versions).

Good idea with the difficulty. Don't think I bothered trying to finish the first bit.

Just downloaded, I'll give it a blast tomorrow. Addicted to Pacman CE on xbox!!
I'd buy that for a dollar!

The Robocop remakes on that page are also worth a look. So many nice touches and tributes to the film (and the original arcade home conversions) it almost feels like it shouldn't be allowed.

Does 'Aykroyd' still work? :D

Thought it was a great, one of the better movie tie ins, gfx on the CPC were amazing.

Are they any good.

Looks like a blast.

Yes (see above), they are very impressive. Lots of stuff shamelessly ripped from the movies, music, video and a marvelous update of the old 2D shooter with lovely touches such as Robocop's menacing shadow against the background, and his reflection as he passes windows and some superb rain effects.

...and I must mention the great tribute to the movies 'replay' sequences in "Robocop vs Terminator", when you make certain kills they are replayed at the top of the screen. Bloody marvelous if you ask me!

The CPC conversion of 'Ghostbusters 2' was one of the better ones. Although the game had a sort of "dis-jointed" feel about it.

...Oooh I feel an 8-bit comparison coming on.

Did anyone ever play the CGA dos game "Ghostbusters 2"? It was rather good, more like the first game; you had to answer calls, bust ghosts (in a sort of shooting range game) to make money and escape from the mental hospital.

..Oh look here's a screenshot:
