I forgot Jet Set Radio, one of the main reasons I bought a DC!

Dead or Alive 2 is essential imo, and I'll second Bangai-O.

Bomber Hehhe is interesting and something a bit different if you can suffer the Japanese text.

Likewise, Giant Gram 2000 is one of the best wrestling games I've played, and easily the best on the system.

Sega Marine Fishing fishing is all sorts of ace if you get the controller. Far better than Bass fishing, and very competitive with a friend to challenge for biggest catch.

Sticking with a fishy theme, Ecco the Dolphin was a showcase for the system at the time and a decent game to boot.

Fur Fighters surprised me, as despite the initial cutesy design, it's quite violent and a lot of fun. I'd recommend at least a download to give it a go.

Gundam: Side Story 0079 is a change from the usual on the system, I liked it a lot.

Headhunter has probably dated badly, but amazing at the time.

Sno-Cross Championship Racing is decent.

Super Magnetic Neo is well worth a look, gets quite tricky.

Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage is a good action fighting thing.

Typing of the Dead is another odd one if you have a keyboard.

Pop n Music is a game I like, but better with the dedicated controller for it.

Oh, and it's Demolition Racer that works with the gun, though not throughout, just one minigame bit.

And since we mentioned the gun, don't get Silent Scope, as it's an arcade gun game that only works with the pad on DC!

Said forgot - not forget!

:)

I have both. I've played a fair old bit of the original - have yet to put any serious time in on 2.

Guys I have another techy question about the Dreamcast. I have a CRT TV running @ 100Mhz and the light guns wont work on it. I am guessing they dont work on anything over 60Mhz. Could anyone confirm that?

Yep you are correct. They don’t work on 100hz TVs due to refreshing too quick if my memory serves me right.

It's dead easy to play imports on too - either burn your own or use a boot disc if you want to play official releases. You can make a boot disc yourself from online resources or buy a disc called DC-X which I find to be a wee bit more dependable.
Davy, I bought one of the DC-X CD's off ebay and it works fine on the CRT TV via SCART but when using the LED TV nothing appears on the screen although you can hear the audio ok. The Dreamcast works fine on the LED TV unless you use the DC-X CD. Have you come across this problem before? Ive tried using both VGA and a SCART cable

Which type of scart? A composite or RGB?

It maybe the TV doesn’t like the signal the DC is outputting. My main tv is a Panasonic plasma and it hates it with a RGB scart. Picture is all over or doesn’t come on among other things. Put it on our tiny LG led and it’s fine.

The DC-X disc does have a hidden menu where you can force a particular signal out of the machine and this might solve the problem.

Really? Any idea how to access the hidden menu? Nothing on Google that I found.

I have the instructions at home. When I finally get there later I will dig them out.

Sorry for the delay as I couldn’t find my DC-X straightaway.

I have put up a photo of the instructions.

Thanks for you help Silver, I appreciate you going to the trouble of digging that out.

Well, it didnt help me with getting my tv to display the image but I kept messing around with the cables and I got it working by using Scart socket 1 on the back of the TV instead of Scart socket 2. Socket 2 wont display the Dreamcast for some reason. Makes no sense cos it does work. Anyway got Gigawing 2 running on it now so happy days ! :)
