RIP Bob Wakelin

Post by station » Sun Jan 28, 2018 1:12 pm

Bob Wakelin, artist on various games, especially those Ocean arcade conversions, has passed away. I worked in the same building as Bob years ago, and knew a lot of people who were close friends. You will be very familiar with his work if you were alive and gaming in the 80's/90's. I definitely tried at some point to duplicate his artwork at some point, and one of the reasons I got into it.

RIP Bob, you'll be missed!

Didn't know him personally, but Operation Wolf is a classic and that cover is ace. RIP.

RIP. His game artwork dazzled me as a child! Still get goosebumps seeing it now.

Sad to hear :(

A little interesting aside - Bronty over at Nintendoage is offering $100,000 for Wakelin's original artwork for Contra, y'know in case anyone has it lying around!

RIP. Sad as time goes on to see more legends of the golden age passing.

Thoughts with friends and family.
