What's your favourite Nintendo arcade game?

As the title what is your favourite game from Nintendo?

They were quite prolific in the early eighties but pretty much gave up after the NES came along just choosing to releasing endless versions of the NES driven Play Choice cabinet. There was a resurgence in more later years with coin-ops based off both the Game Cube and Wii technology before teaming up with both Sega and Namco to produce a few games.

You can find a full list of their games HERE!

And a video of them all in action HERE!

Donkey Kong. After hating it for decades I suddenly got addicted to it after King Of Kong and realising if you stick with it for a bit, it keeps getting more and more rewarding as you keep improving.

Excitebike. Great graphics , seemingly simplistic gameplay, but with hidden depth.

Not strictly an arcade game though, it was just a NES game on the Play Choice cab

Arcade Donkey Kong first saw in Blackpool & some kid told me not to bother as it was a waste of money and he died within seconds.

They had in Porthcawl and there was always crowds playing it and I became addicted! could never get past screen 4 when you rescue Pauline, use to play the Atari 2600 version a lot, after playing Donkey Kong on my friends Coleco.

I prefer Crazy Kong bootleg just due to the ladder cheat and playing it in Arcade Club earlier this year I got to the third elevator screen abusing the ladder cheat on the first level.

Off topic the new 2600 remake is amazing the programmmet must be using black magic to get that’s running on a 2600. Even including the “Hiw high can you climb “ intermissions. If I had that version back in the day

For me the best home version of DK will always be the first videogame I ever owned; Killer Gorilla for the Electron/BBC. Stunning conversion. The official NES port is superb but missing the pie factrory level which Killer Gorilla has.

Annoyingly Nintendo did later reinstate the pie factory to the NES version for a special version released on the Wii... but promptly forgot about it again and every subsequent release is back to only having 3 levels.

I've gone for Donkey Kong Jr. as, although it might not have had the same impact as the original, it's a far more fun game to play. At least it didn't feel nearly as much like you were paying to be randomly stomped.

Punch Out is undoubtedly the best! I'd probably put Donkey Kong 3 or Donkey Kong Jnr next.
I find these the most fun games of Nintendo's arcade output. Mario Bros is one of my all time most loathed games - just not fun in any way and the characters control horribly. Donkey Kong isn't too bad but I don't like the randomness of whether barrels are going to go down a ladder.

Oh and the Player's Choice cabinet with its stupid time limit can get fucked.

Does F-Zero AX even count? It was made by Sega, and, as excellent as it is, I'd say the most iconic Arcade game they made was the good ol' Donkey Kong.
