19 Mega Man Games Coming Next Year....

Post by ALK » Mon Dec 04, 2017 3:32 pm

......yeah, 18 are rereleases but 1 is brand new at least.

Legacy Collection 1+2 for Switch with amiibo support
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/1 ... bo_support

Mega Man X 1-8 coming to Switch, XBONE, PS4 and Steam

And brand new, Mega Man 11 for Switch, XBONE, PS4 and Steam
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/1 ... ch_in_2018

Even if 11 turns out to be okay or bad, I'm still very happy to have the other 18 on my Switch, and having the chance to play MM8 and the rest of the X series for the first time.

And hey, at least 17 of those games are good! X7 sucks and 11 will live or die by its level and boss designs but the rest rock (well, X6 less so, but its still more good than bad).

Obviously I'm really happy with all this, especially 11 since I expected nothing from the 30th anniversary stream. It looks nice so far, and I know I'll put tons of hours into it. Totally getting physical releases on PS4 and Switch for sure (assuming its not digital only). Probably get an Xbox One port for collection purposes...

we are going to need video footage from the lads at the mag playing 11. I want to see how they fare. I sure hope it gets a physical copy.

Capcom has been fairly decent at getting physical releases of their games out (bar the last two Phoenix Wright games) so I'm hopeful for this as well. That said, expect the physical release to skip Europe and especially the UK as Capcom have ignored these markets since the DS days when it comes to Mega Man (never getting Star Force 3 brought over, no recent Euro physical releases of the collections etc.)

11 has been confirmed to be getting one yes. The Switch collections? Hopefully, at least in Japan. After RE Revelations 2 didn't get a physical release I'm not 100% sure that Capcom will do a physical release but I'm hoping they do.

As for the X games, its not actually clear at the moment if they are even releasing them as a collection, or releasing all 8 separately but I think the only re-release of Capcom's this gen that didn't get a physical release is the Disney Collection so I think a package of all 8 is possible, at least for PS4/Xbox One (I'm skeptical of Switch just because of the file sizes of all 8 games - X7 and X8 might mean Capcom need to either pay for a larger cart or release one or two as download only. And Capcom probably won't pick the option that costs them more money)

There's over 100 Mega Man games. That's just counting the console/handheld releases. If I were to start counting the weird Asian PC releases there would be more still, though you aren't exactly missing out much by not playing the PC releases, they are more like odd curio items for fans like me to pick up!

Legacy Collection 1+2 are coming to the Switch on May 22nd, digitally and a physical edition (For America at least) but don't get too excited, as just like Revelations, only the 1st Collection is on the cart, while the 2nd is a download code.

I get that those FMV cutscenes and duel language voice acting of 8 might of eaten up some space, but I wonder why they even bothered with physical....

My only Megaman experience came on an iphone (I think) - it was mentally hard on touch screen and put me off.

I would try again on a console. Those mobile ports of MM were handled terribly from what I heard.

They bothered because silly fans will still buy it even with the glaring issues. And by fans, I mean me. I'll buy it for sure

Mega Man 2's original port was bad. They had to make so many changes to really make it somewhat playable, but it was either far too easy or far too hard since the game really doesn't work without proper physical controls. Then for some odd reason they released ports of 1-6 again on the iOs store and they actually performed (as in frame rate) even worse.
