You may as well unsubscribe from all the the 1Up podcasts - they went belly up years ago. Retronauts was relaunched as it's own venture via Kickstarter, and Jeremy is now running the site as his job (amongst several other things including the Super Play mag that came with RG 172).

Maximum Power Up and Retronauts are the best ones at the moment off my list. Maximum Power Up just did a great Nintendo DS episode recently, even had RG's Darren on as he's mega in to DS at the moment. RetroCollectFM was great though they haven't put out a podcast in two years (ironically it was on cancelled games LOL), Maximum Power Up is associated with RetroCollect anyway so it's probably replaced it.

Here's my list of gaming podcasts, two are dedicated retro though the rest definitely have an appreciation of and regular talk about old games, so they are fine if you also like current games. The links are what you need to put in your podcast player (address field) - or if you have a decent one like Doggcatcher you will find them by searching and not have to copy and paste them from here.

Dig into the archives a bit, and the No Quarter Podcast was good, covering a single arcade game each episode. Not sure it's still going, I'm months behind on some shows.

If you really want to go retro, them Retrogaming Radio was around since before podcasts were a thing, it was just an 'internet radio show'. Ran for 10 years, now long dead, with primary host Shane R. Monroe and occasional others. Changed a bit over the years, but I always enjoyed it, though it seems to be marmite. No idea if the shows are online anywhere, since Shane used to host them himself, but he used to sell DVDs of them all by the end of it. A bit of gaming history imo. Early episodes see him talking about new mame updates which is quaint. What you really want these for is the interviews. Long before we had RG, way back when retro was just becoming a thing, Shane was recording interviews with David Crane, Billy Mitchell, Bill Kunkel.. loads more, many significant players. And they get to know him over the years and are quite candid. Ok, enough fanboy.

Retro Computing Roundtable. This is more about old computers than gaming, but it fills a niche. Again I'm way behind with it, but I did enjoy the odd episode depending on the topic.

Ten Pence Arcade. Title tells it all really, a UK arcade game podcast. Got to love those shows that give our angle on things.

If you have around 6 hours to kill, you could also listen to an episode of Retro Gaming Roundup. This podcast is loooong. It has various regular segments, so while you may not like some bits there's bound to be something there for you, just skip on through.

Other dead shows worthy of note...

Weekend Gamer. A podcast and video show, created by a couple of old regulars who no longer visit. Not many episodes but good while it lasted. That'll be hard to find I think.

Digital Cowboys. Only found this one myself right at it's end, but went and listened to as much of the back catalogue as I could. Some fantastic content in this one.

One Man and His Mic is another from Kenz, a music show.

The C64 Takeaway was one of the first game remix shows I listened to, spinning off from the Remix.Kwed.Org website. C64 SID tunes and remixes all the way. Then the host got a life and it all went quiet.

I used to love Retrogaming Radio, very much podcasts before podcasts were a thing! Agree it's marmite, at first I didn't particularly like it. One thing I noted was Shane's evolution (story arc!) over the show... from very much an Nintendo and Xbox hater, to really loving both! Also a great show was Dual Screen Radio, Shane was joined by his mate Chris - there was a fantastic community feel about this show too. Sadly both of these great shows aren't available in their original locations online.

Dual Screen Radio gave DS gamers what Nintendidn't, with Shane setting up a website to share friend codes and get players together online in a way that was easy to use.

Never mind Chris, what about the episodes with Bryan "Kidhype" Smith joining in. Those two loved one another, and loved gaming, and the passion was clear, there was a real sense of fun in the shows when they got together, a perfect partnership. I miss Bryan. Its weird that I never met the guy, but every now and then I think of his passing.

I started listening perhaps a few months after Bryan died, Shane wasn't talking about it lots, but there were occasional (and understandably) melancholy references to him. I think Shane replayed some previously recorded stuff with Bryan in, but it was tinged with a bit of sadness.

Yeah DSR was really great, the database, the show combined with the crazy DS games that were coming out at the time. Thanks for jogging my memory of it.
