October Quiz - Clues #2

Yesterday I sent a link to this sound quiz to a friend right next to me, who then proceeded to click through all 25 fields on a full bus. *eyeroll* Be responsible, do the quiz when you're alone or use headphones! :)

Average score went up slightly, now at 6 points for 37 people in total (none from here). The MMX Forum had to hand over leadership to the english Amiga board this week - so far there are only five candidates who broke the 10-points-barrier, and none of them by a lot. ;)

Keep on trying - Only game 22 has not been guessed at all. Here are some clues again:

1) In all three Sound FX riddles there has not been a game used twice. You can check previous quizzes with the "previous" buttons.

2) However, the titles 1, 11 and 17 are from game series where a different (older!) part had already been used in a previous sound quiz.

3) Game 4 puts you in a procedurally generated 3D world.

4) Title number 7 has you fight a lot of zombies.

5) Games 10, 16, 19 and 20 have been developed for or by Sega, and have all been released on the Dreamcast.

October Quiz - Clues #3

So, the last weekend is almost over - this round ends on Wednesday night. Did you join yet?? At the moment there are 46 participants, and none from this forum.

Here are the last clues:

1) Game number 9 is not Outrun.

2) Game number 24 is not Tomb Raider.

3) Game number 24 is not Aladdin.

4) Sound 15 is a laughing clown in a point'n'click Adventure.

5) Number 22 remains unsolved - time for drastic measures! The game was released in the 80s and in the 90s, and I have been using the speech sample from the older version... but today I updated it to the modern version, which is much easier to understand. ;)
You might need to refresh your browser though.

This has to be enough - last call, all join!

Oh, please do continue. I did look (well, listen) to this, just didn't enter as I didn't know many, and it's been an odd month at work. Retrospectively, I'd have been well off the bottom of the list, though not troubling the high scorers.

November Quiz

November Quiz - Woof Woof the Dog Quiz

May I introduce, the dog on the picture above is Pepper. He's my dog, a six year old Yorkshire Terrier / Shih Tzu Mix. He is a totally good boy, and would be thrilled to know this riddle is dedicated to him.

AHEM, so this time it's about dogs! Across all years and systems you now have to recognise games from the pictured dogs. Sometimes it's easy as the main protagonist is a dog, sometimes it's hard as we are only talking about a background or side character.

Ah well, I am sure you can do it. :P

Deadline is Friday the 30th November, please participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

Here is the quiz... have fun! :)

Thank you, glad to hear people are at least looking at the quizzes. :)

But each year I essentially play a round of elimination - I add some communities and phase out the one with the lowest participation numbers. I can't say yet if RetroGamer stays in the group or not. :/

Fair enough. If you bin this place off, may I suggest http://retrocanteen.boards.net/ as an alternative.

It doesn't have the largest userbase, but is reasonably active with a solid core of members who used to post here.

Hope you don't mind, but I posted this month's quiz at the other forum to see if there was any interest.

Someone has raised a question: If an entry has already been submitted, and they want to either change an answer, or add a new one, do they have to submit all of the answers again, or only the new/changed ones? i.e. do you update it against previous entries or just take the final submission?

November Quiz - Clues #1

Wow (Woof?) that's a lot of people, more than thirty in the first three days - great! :) After two weeks it's now 50 participants (one from here), I'm happy you all like this round.

Many of you recognise the first few titles, but towards the end it still gets difficult - which is why nobody has achieved to get full score yet.

By the way, we welcome a new forum to his quiz series - the Retro Canteen is already in it with three users: http://retrocanteen.boards.net/thread/1 ... aming-quiz :)

Don't give up - here are the first clues:

1) Game 1 und game 19 are license games to TV shows.

2) Watch out a bit on the games 6, 8, 10 und 14 - on these I have already given a few "half points" for unclear or too-far-off answers

3) For the most part game 16 plays in various hospitals.

4) I don't like it when that happens - but one game of the November quiz was already in last months SoundFX quiz.

5) Game 22 frequently makes you decide in morally & ethically complicated situations.

Did that help a bit? Go search the game buddy, go search! Good boy! :P

Deadline Friday 30th November, participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

Here is the quiz again, good luck:

November Quiz - Clues #2

Awww, good boy! There's sixty people in the quiz now (one from here), that's great - dog biscuits for everyone! ^_^

This round is coming to an end soon, though... the deadline is this friday! Therefore, please enjoy these last clues:

1) The following games got released for the playstation 2: 6, 13, 18, 21 and the 25.

2) Picture 10 shows an arcade game.

3) Number 18 and 21 are the only Survival Horror titles this round.

4) Game 22 was made in this decade.

5) Picture 23 shows a game from an Atari console.

This has to be enough... Go search the game buddy, go search! :P

Deadline is Friday 30th November, participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

Kicking myself now for not getting Trauma Centre. I did look at those games, but didn't think there were any dogs in them.

Gods Will Be Watching would still have caught me out though. I've seen it on GoG, but the reviews put me off. I knew in my head it was a point n click game somehow, but just couldn't make the connection, it's too obscure.

well, the games in the lowest row are supposed to be the hardest, so obscurity was intentional. ;) But I should have foreseen that Trauma Center would be even harder, the dog surgery is a tiny detail late in the game.

Here is the scene by the way:

I'm not knocking that there's a gradient of difficulty on them. Like I said, somehow I knew it was a point n click game, so it must have registered somewhere in my memory, just too tricky for me. Others managed to work it out, so not too hard for the quiz in general, and this was one of the easier months to get a high score in.

December Quiz - Hackers

So, what are we hacking today? The blast door to the mainframe? The memory chip of that android? A virtual server somewhere in cyberspace? Some killer AI gone rogue? Or are we just doing a fun hacking minigame or watch a "hacking..." progress bar?!

No matter if just a tech-savy sidekick character or the central gameplay/story element, hacking is our theme for December - the last quiz of the year.

It's gonna be a bit harder than the dog quiz, but I hope you'll have fun regardless. :)

Deadline is Monday the 31st of December, please participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com

Here is the quiz... good luck. :)
