I know one on this months and could hazard a guess on two others so I'll be skipping this one unfortunately.

Well, at a glance I reckon I know 5 straight off the bat without any great memory trawling or research. There's a few more I have some hunches on that I'd want to check before committing to an answer.

I wouldn't let only knowing a couple put you off. There are players every month that only score a couple of points, so you'd be in good company and you'd still have a localised nemesis to play off against.

I definitely think you will beat me on this one. :D

I'll have another look before the month is out. My problem is that I have absolutely no clue on current gen games as I've not played any.

Me neither, I don't own an XBone or PS4 and my PC isn't up to it. I've got a Switch, but that's fairly limited with cross platform games.

I'm generally working on guesses via games I've seen discussed here, big names that crop up, and a bit of random googling to work out what I can, sometimes just using what I see in the image as my search terms. By fluke this month, I googled one big franchise thinking it might be one of their characters in the modern games, only to spot a screenshot that matched one of the other quiz images in the google results. Last month just from the look of the image I was googling survival horror videogame dogs and figured one out, just from the guess that the image must be from something of that ilk. I think I've got almost half of them from a first pass without too much hassle this month.

Half the fun for me is in the chase, tracking them down. It kills a dull lunchtime at work and expands the gaming knowledge a bit.

December Quiz - Clues #1

Okay, so far there are 33 people trying their luck and knowledge this round, none of those from this community. Have you joined yet? Will you after this set of clues? :)

1) Several games are based on famous movie licenses: Number 2, 8 and 10.

2) The 17, 19, 21 and 25 are also license games, but the source material is very mixed... we have a Manga, toy line, offline-RPG and book license.

3) The oldest game (fifth row) was released in 1985, the newest title (third row) just came out in October this year.

4) Picture 9 shows a turtle.

5) Picture 11 shows a robot mechanic. He gives you an item that lets you hack and take over other robots.

Deadline is Monday the 31st of December, please participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com

Here is the quiz again... good luck. :)

I'm from here. I'm stuck on number 24. Feels like I should know it, but can't quite break into a memory suitable to allow me to find it.

Real tough one this month. If I find some free time tomorrow I'll have a crack.

It isn't as hard as it first seems imo. Didn't think I'd get many, but there's only one I haven't got an answer for yet.

December Quiz - Clues #2

Jingle Bells, red nosed reindeer, Frosty the snowman - yes I know it's Christmas, but don't forget to join the last quiz of the year! :P
So far there's over forty people, but none from this community.

Here is the last full set of clues - there'll be little more than a small reminder next week, so best get moving:

1) With the exception of the last row, all games this round appeared after the year 2000.

2) The following games were published by Ubisoft: 4, 5, 15, 16

3) For this rounds last five titles, three are from the 80s and two from the 90s.

4) Game 1 shows a female hacker in a popular AAA first person shooter.

5) Number 6 is the only game in this round that was also released on the Sega Dreamcast.

Deadline is Monday the 31st December, participate via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

December Quiz - Clues #3

Watch out folks, this quiz ends on monday - you only have the weekend left! 54 people are in so far, that's not bad. But nobody is from the Retrogamer forum - so here's some bad news, the quiz won't continue into 2019 for this community. For less than two participants per month it doesn't make much sense. You're still getting the final ranking for 2018, but then I'll be gone.

1) Number 7 is not System Shock.

2) Borderlands is not in this quiz at all.

3) The same goes for Lawnmower Man.

4) To get a full point for number 17 you have to give me the name of the specific toy line this license game is about. The big brand name only gets you half a point.

5) Come on now, "the world" is not the correct answer for Game 19!

Deadline is Monday the 31st of December, join in via http://www.retrogamequiz.com/

Here the quiz a last time - good luck & a happy new year!

Well, I knew I'd be kicking myself for the one answer I didn't get, and I am. How I didn't get Beneath a Steel Sky is beyond me, it's a well known game and I have played it.

Sorry dste, but that knocks you into second here, our quizmaster's system can't cope with me entering two forums :D
