I don't like RPG games.

I had Final Fantasy XVII on the PC a long time ago and it seemed like every step I took in the game started a battle. Put me off for life
Holy crap how did you get FFXVII????? ARE YOU FROM THE FUTURE????

FPS games can be great. Titanfall 2 would change some people's minds if you haven't played one in the last decade. Great reviews. Average sales. They probably thinking to hell with innovation, you can't win!

I don’t like the modern racing game along the lines of Forza and GT. really, how are they any better than the original GT?

Seems a bit broad. I guess you mean Mario, Kirby, Animal Crossing, Pokemon and that? But do things like Zelda, Metroid and Fire Emblem not appeal? I feel like if those didn't exist until now and were developed by third parties there would be no issue, that they'd be no 'taint' of being a Nintendo franchise. I really don't get why somebody might happily play Rayman or Sonic but then refuse to play say Donkey Kong Country because Nintendo, even though that franchise is critically on par, if not superior.

I've never liked rhythm or music games.

Just can't find myself enjoying the likes of Rez, Guitar Hero or Parappa the Rapper!

Me too. Too be fair I'm not good at them, but even so I think there's a lot better genres I'd rather be playing.

Personally I don't enjoy any of those games you mention.

I think Sonic games play very differently to Mario though, so don't think that's a valid argument.

In the case on Sonic then yes it is somewhat unique, but I included Rayman also just as examples of platformers in general, I should have been more clear. Though in the case of a Sonic fan that dislikes Nintendo's platformers I wouldn't expect them to be a fan of platformers in general.

It just seems odd to me that despite Nintendo's varied output that a person can dismiss their entire catalogue as though it were a genre itself. To single out Nintendo's games would seem to suggest it's not the genres themselves, but Nintendo.

Rez has almost nothing to do with rhythm or music with regard to its gameplay, it's more like Space Harrier than anything, an on rails 3D shmup.

The rhythm aspects are much overplayed, it's just the background music that reacts to your shots and levelling up. It's quite clever how it's done, but beyond the soundtrack synchronicity helping you get in the zone, the music doesn't have anything to do with how you play.

If you like on rails shmups, you should definitely try it.

Sport games and "Serious Racers" like Gran Turismo; they're all just so dull!

Visual Novels - Worse than those extremely limited DVD "games" that did the rounds at the turn of the century.
JRPG's - One step on from Visual Novels. "Sit back and watch the game take care of all that annoying interaction stuff for you, so that you can get back to micro-managing, while preparing for the next cutscene".

That's it, i'll play and enjoy pretty much anything else.

Over complex RTS games and bullet hell shooters. Just... yuck.

3d brawlers such as Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden. Was stoked for the Transformers game, but ever that couldn't convince me to persevere for long.

And I've no time for RPG's now, shame as Lost Odyssey on 360 looks kind of cool.

RPG. RTS. Strategy. Simulation. FPS except TimeSplitters. Most sports games (unless they are really arcades like Hyper Sport or Epyx style).
