Re: Your go-to MAME games
With many mame titles, I actually pref re the 8 bit conversion, ESP the likes of Bubble Bobble, Metrocross (c64) and Bomb smack, Green Bert (speccy). One game I love playing on mame, and that has never been properly replicated or bettered in the home is Rampage.

Re: Your go-to MAME games
A lot of variety in this list! And it reminds me, I haven't played Mappy in a while. Nor Time Pilot or Sky Kid Deluxe. Though they're great games I'm more into later stuff with better 2D graphics.
My go-tos are usually Space Harrier and R-Type.
I also like a bit of Trigon, and Midnight Wanderers and Chariot from Capcom's Three Wonders.

Re: Your go-to MAME games
Here's mine :-
Mr. Do(that seems really popular here)
Bubble Bobble
Mercs(looks and plays better than the Amiga version)
Smash TV(with the twin joystick set-up naturally)
Aliens(which never got a home conversion strangely)
Xybots(I have to press a key to turn around on that one)
Gauntlet 1 and 2
R-Type 1 and 2

Matrimelee
Excellent fighter with some great characters. The granny cracks me up
Momoko 120%
Nice little platformer featuring what must be one of the unluckiest girls in gaming. She's always in a burning building! Unless she's actually a serial arsonist?
Batrider
Love this game, though I'm pretty poor at it. Always seems to take a few goes until my eyes adjust to be able to see enemy bullets
Cyvern
Amazing soundtrack, and a really nice and straightforward scoring system
Trio The Punch
Can't play this without smiling, it's just terrific fun
And a whole bunch of others

Re: Your go-to MAME games
Seeing a lot of Time Pilot love, and rightly so, but I tend to go for the sequel, Time Pilot '84, since playing it in the league a few years back. Once you get past the graphical change (it's all sci-fi and rockets), its a much better game.

Q Bert in recent months. Having a bit of a high score push.
Otherwise, mainly the old classics:
Asteroids
Scramble
Galaxian
Robotron
Etc
(Strangely, I have gone right off all the Sega games with sprite scaling. I thought they were ace back in the day but I find them strangely unappealing these days. Weird.)

So many classics..
Green Beret
Out Run
Ghost n Goblins
Bomb Jack
Bubble Bobble
New Zealand Story
Commando
Star Wars
I still like playing one level of say Pacman/Space Invaders/Centipede but those early early games as its the same level over and over again i get bored with. But one level for old times sake!

Good to see some love for Mr Do!.
It has so much replay value.
