Your go-to 16-bit game

Post by Katzkatz » Sat Feb 04, 2017 1:48 pm

Well, we've done the 8 bit games - now for the move to 16 bit. What is your selection of choice? Here's mine :-

Gauntlet. Either in the arcade or maybe on the Atari ST. Who doesn't like a game which features elves, warriors, valkyries, wizards, ghosts, fire breathing monsters, etc. ? Plus, it teaches you to eat your food and not shoot it.

Rainbow Islands. The Amiga version. I know it's slightly cut down from the arcade version(which I have never played) - but the continuing adventures of Bub and Bob still warm my heart. Who doesn't like firing a rainbow at a nasty spider? :D Plus, the great music on that. "Some where over the rainbow ..." :D

I tend to fire up Bubble Bobble and IK+ on the Amiga when I first get back into 16-bit for a while. And one of the first I will also play is Shadow Of The Beast even if for 10 minutes or so, I just love the presentation of that game, it has never got old for a second. The gameplay though well I wont discuss that just now. :P

On the Amiga the games I go to first for some instant fun are Rainbow Islands, Super Cars 2, Turrican 2 and Pinball Fantasies.

Damn that was a good game. :)

Kind of really hard to pick a stand out 16 bitter with so many terrific ones, ones that I can just play over and over- Road Rash or Streets of Rage. I guess overall has to be Road Rash II with fantastic 2 player and the ability to knock the cops off their bikes :D
