Help identifying a handheld game from 1980's

Post by goldenone » Tue Oct 25, 2016 12:53 pm

Hi all, hoping you guys can help.....

I used to have a big collection of the handheld electronic games back in the 1980's and there is one that I received for Christmas one year that I cannot for the life of me find anywhere.

It was a large game in the shape of a white space shuttle and took around 6 AA batteries (that lasted hardly any time). The game itself came with a selection of game cards that could be swapped for different games ranging from memory games, music games etc all of which involved nothing more than pressing the odd button to be met with flashing lights and beeps.

Hoping someone can identify this as it's driving me mad and nobody else seems to have a clue what i'm talking about.

 Functionally it sounds a bit like a Merlin ?

But that didn't come with changable carts, but the Microvision did ?

Neither are space shuttle shaped though.

Thanks for that but it wasn't either of those.

As I say it was a space shuttle. I think my mum may have got it from one of those toy parties that were common in the 80's.

Was it one of those Tomy 3D ones that you looked into ?

CGL Space Challenger.

Completely fluked finding this one so quickly. Went to the Handheld Museum and started looking at CGL games first since they marketed some of my favourites. Hopefully it's the right one.
