Game prices too high. Way too high for non first party. That is all.

£15 for Sonic Mania
£12 for Fast MRS
£50 for Breath of the Wild

Prices aren't too high for third parties.

Vid of Doom Switch:

Apparently some aren't pleased that it's not 60 fps, but let's be fair here, it's almost a miracle it's looking and running so well on the Switch.

Expecting more would be similar to expecting 4K@60fps in all titles on a 300 bucks home console, i.e. delusional and strangely entitled.

Not much point in that video, skewed at a weird angle, can hardly see the screen for reflections, all I can make out is something that's at least comparable with Android tablet shooters of the last few years, which is all I really ask for.

Here it is at a better angle:

And here's the game running on the GPD Win, for comparison, not that there's much of one:

The Switch is obviously a fair bit more powerful, benefits from a more efficient driver stack and the developers have had the opportunity to optimize it specifically for the hardware, but they've done a fantastic job. It's looks like night and day to me. Comparisons to the PC/PS4/XB1 versions can't be avoided though, and they're still going to be considerably better to look and play than the Switch version, even in docked mode, so playing the game on the go will be pretty much its only selling point.

On the whole, I'd think that it should be a good yardstick for what's possible with ports to the Switch. If a game runs at 60fps on the XB1/PS4 it can probably make 30 even in handheld mode with a bit of tweaking. Conversely, games that are struggling to hit 30 on the other consoles or need a discrete graphics card to be playable on the PC probably won't be getting ported any time soon.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Yoshi, two visually superb, "Toy Story quality" Switch titles:

Mario + Rabbids is being made in collaboration with UbiSoft and runs on "The Division" engine and Yoshi runs on the Unreal Engine 4.

Kids these days should consider themselves lucky that they can have such quality games on the go...

Mario+Rabbids is a really good game. I was thinking that we'd probably have to wait until Super Mario Odyssey for the Switch to have its first killer exclusive, but it totally hits the spot for me.

Still, I suppose it's definitely a strategy game and they're always a bit of a niche market, but it's akin to a very accessible XCOM. The first few levels are very easy, and you don't have to worry about making poor strategic choices that'll ultimately force you into re-starting, but the challenge eventually ramps up to the point where you've really got to make every move count. It's a bit like the Fire Emblem games in that respect, although you just have to re-load to get it right rather than because the random number generator hates you.

WHERE ARE FOLDERS?!!?!? I've stopped buying any more NeoGeo games until I can plonk them all in a nice neat folder rather than having dozens of them all cluttering my desktop.

Eventually I guess. Though I'd imagine getting Apps and the Virtual Console running will be their next top priorities.

Anyone playing Fire Emblem Warriors? Been playing a small chunk of it and so far its a great follow up to Hyrule Warriors (If you enjoyed that gameplay).

Also Limited Run Games have announced they'll be releasing Switch games next year. Oh boy....

How are we all doing? I'm about half way through so far and it's been great fun. I'm not sure if it's quite in best Mario game ever territory, but it's certainly very enjoyable and there's a great mix of the familiar series tropes with some refreshing new mechanics.

I'd think that I'd have to pronounce that between this game, Zelda and the Switch hardware itself that Nintendo have definitely got their mojo back.

Just cleared New Donk City and the beach world. Been taking things slow and so I've got quite a few moons (235+ at last count I believe). Its a wonderful change to the last few Mario games, exactly what I wanted.

And yeah, I've really been impressed with the first year of the Switch's life. So much better than the Wii U its not even funny.

Have to wait till pay day for Mario. FE Warriors, a Con, and some other stuff made no room for Mario in October. T.T
