Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
I want a new Metroid game proper.
Good third party support
Lots of adult games as well as Nintendo canon.
If it has at least any two of those options I'm in.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
UK price confirmed by Nintendo as £279.99.
Not bad, considering the awful exchange rates for the £ vs the $ and Yen.
Naturally, there are people who think Nintendo are massively overcharging. I guess the fact that you can get Android tablets for well under £100 has skewed the perception of what the Switch should cost as a lot of gamers seem to be viewing it as a handheld system.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
Price is confirmed as £280 for us. More then what I desired, plus a bit of a pain when I get paid on the 7th of every month, but I guess console plus Zelda on launch day will do me just fine....then everything else 4 days later.
Not shown in the presentation much, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, coming April 28th.

Generaly, I think it was great. No overload of casual stuff, a new IP in Arms, some massive titles like Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fire Emblem Warriors etc., a fair bit of 3rd party and the Zelda launch date. Shame about a Sub for online gaming, but then it could also mean a free monthly games program too assuming they don't get too greedy. Would of liked details on Virtual Console but hey, there's always the Treehouse show later today....

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
Do we have a games list yet? Seen some random game mentions, but nothing that makes me want to splash out.

Yeah, just the usual Nintendo stuff really. It's a machine for the fans. Nintendo seem content enough with that particular slice of the market.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
£280 then what, £40 for a game? So approx £320 at launch?

I'd lower your expectations on that score if I were you.ALK wrote:Shame about a Sub for online gaming, but then it could also mean a free monthly games program too assuming they don't get too greedy.
Nintendo say this:
Which is incredibly weak sauce compared to the free games offered by Sony and Microsoft and indicates quite clearly that what they're actually offering is a month's trial of said game at the most.Subscribers will get to download and play a free Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) or Super Nintendo Entertainment System (Super NES) game (with newly-added online play) for free for a month.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
Shame. I'd welcome an uncensored No More Heroes game, but aside from that Steep is possibly the only game on that list that interests me, a game available on other systems with more games I'd play. The Beans wrote:Antiriad2097 wrote: but nothing that makes me want to splash out.

Some of the RPGs might hold promise, though its not a genre that grabs me greatly, needing lots of playtime. The Switch might be the place for that as I don't need to commandeer the TV for it.
Where are all the FPS and Tomb Raider/Uncharted/Batman style games? You'd think they'd have at least one or two in there to prop things up.
I don't mind cartoonish stylings in some of my games, but they're really not going for an adult market with this lineup. Definitely a secondary home system. Colour me disappointed, I was looking forward to this one. As it is, I may as well stick with my Windows tablet for portable gaming.

Not paying 280. Will wait for first price drop. I'll pick up a Wii u this week sometime - plenty to play on that for now.
Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
I've never not purchased a home Nintendo console, but I'm out on this one.
Voice chat on your mobile phone? (This is utter utter madness)
Having to pay for the privilege?
Games over £50 ?
It's just not the device I'm looking for.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
Yeah it's bonkers for sure. Nintendo have never really understood the online console side of things though. Any of it. In-game voicechat on a portable home console through a mobile phone app sounds superbly convoluted and sums up Nintendo's half arsed approach to online gaming quite nicely.ulala wrote: Voice chat on your mobile phone?
