FORTNITE YES!!
Working at the arcade I am kinda sick of Fortnite kiddies, they have no interest in playing anything but and will try to install it on anything.
But multiplayer wise on the Switch your golden
Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
The whole Fortnite thing is a bit of a shame. I've got friends who have been gamers since the '80s and we've all played so many different types of games across so many systems. But for the most part their kids only care about Fortnite and FIFA. It's so dull. Not what gaming is about (in my opinion).
I'm considering getting rid of my Switch as it's currently suffering a fate worse than PSP which is to say I'm barely using it. The AAA stuff hasn't really won me over and the indie selection is better (and cheaper) on the PS4.
The only things holding me back are;
Into The Breach - it's the best. Perfect, easy to get into strategy that reminds me of things like Rebelstar on the Speccy.
Donkey Kong (arcade) - it's great and having leaderboards is fun although the standard is now a bit high for me on those leaderboards. I'm only a 100k player and that won't make a dent.
Chime Sharp - one of my favourite games but badly needs its controls being patched. The devs know about it but they don't seem to care.

I never play mine outside, sometimes at home undocked, but mostly docked because I hate those little shitty sticks and have a wired controller.Bluce_Ree wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 6:54 amThe whole Fortnite thing is a bit of a shame. Vita all the way for on the go gaming (I spend to much time on the go), its something I can slip into my pocket without needed MC hammer pants
It's gotten a fair bit of play at events (with the natural annoying brat that wonders why I don't have THAT GAME installed on it)
Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
I've been enjoying the Donkey Kong games on Switch recently, I tend to play DK, DK Jr. and DK3 on rotation for about 30 mins before bed.
Until a week ago I'd never played Donkey Kong 3 and I think it's my favourite of all of them.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
Some stupid bargains on the eShop at the minute. Picked up SamSho at half price as it's still the best of the bunch. Super Chariot for 98p? Go on then. Nice LucasArts-styled point 'n' click The Mystery of Wooley Mountain for under a quid? Oh, all right. I need a bigger SD card.
Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
I'm still preferring the physical, retail copies. Though I did buy Grid.

Tempted to buy Luigi's Mansion 3. It looks adorable and Digital Foundry were quite fond of it from a technical perspective.
Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
It is, though at this point once the physical version is updated it's probably in effect overwritten, the game has evolved considerably from the version I first played. Still the physical copy still gives you the opportunity to sell it or lend it if you wish.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
I just mean they've made so many updates to the game, while it's still the same game overall in a general sense, I assume the physical edition contains an early version of the game which has since recieved several tweaks to extent that you might be able to say you're not so much plaing the game on the physical card, but rather now the card is simply storing the bulk of the game's assets etc.

Yeah, it's much the same with most games these days. The card doesn't so much contain the game as is an optimization tool that saves you a bit of internal storage.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion
Optimisation how? I read ages ago that SD card access is faster than the Nintendo card access. It'll save some memory using a card, but it'll be slower to read the data.

Yes, the cartridge access is slower, so you might get slightly worse loading speeds from cartridge than downloads, although they'll still be a lot better than optical media would.Antiriad2097 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 3:20 amOptimisation how? The only optimization is, as I said, that it saves you some internal storage.
