By the time Nintendo get round to releasing the SNES back catalogue it'll be time for a Switch upgrade. Never mind N64 and GC!

That's assuming we don't then get a Gameboy, GBC and GBA library coming before the N64 and onwards.

Though mind you, would be the perfect opportunity to release Mother 3........

Metroid Prime 4 development has been scrapped and restarted, with Retro Studios taking over.

Shame about the delay, but I like the idea of Retro Studios developing it. Probably for the best then.

Its a good sign at least that Nintendo want to do Prime 4 right to do this but a shame we're probably going to look towards a 2021 release date or possibly longer.

I think they'll have to do something to bind the time like maybe a port of either Prime Trilogy and/or Samus Returns to Switch since its gonna be a loooong wait.....

I was actually just saying to someone at work on Wednesday that I didn't think MP4 would live up to the hype, and would be like Other M, in that I'd probably really enjoy it but there would be something about it that Nintendo regarded as an innovation that would spoil the game for many that wanted a more conventional gameplay experience. And now this happens.

Depending if anything can be salvaged I wouldn't think a late 2020 release would be entirely out of the question. If the issue is a mechanical one or a gameplay one then maybe the pre-production stuff like story and concept art can still be used. And Nintendo may just throw money and resources at it at this point to make up for lost time, especially if they were bannking on MP4 to fill a specific release window.

One of the main mysteries of MP4 for me is the control scheme they will adopt, will they have both motion and dual analog control options? Or just one or the other. If they put the Wii Triliogy on the Swtich that might be an indication of how we can expect MP4 to play.

In other news I just noticed Starlink is now down to £18 on amazon, I think they really want me to pick it up.

But again, depends on what they can salvage. I'm sure at least the story will be used unless it was based around a gameplay mechanic or a story element really wasnt working. I recall Reggie saying a few months ago development was going well so it had to be something major for them to look and say "this really isnt going to please gamers", especially when this game was announced a year and a half ago.

Still, again a good sign they care about the project so much when you see how many games are rushed out the door to meet a holiday target with the intention of fixing through patches done by other companies.

Its also sounding like a Prime Trilogy HD Collection is becoming more and more likely, which 3 games and maybe even an online mode for Prime 2 Multiplayer would certainly fill the void till Prime 4 reaches some stage where its close to completion whether you're playing for the first time or revisiting to see how everything looks in shiny HD.

I'm just hoping that Metroid Prime Trilogy makes it to the Switch this year.

Quite a decent sale on several games on the Switch currently. Finally picked up the spiritual successor to Super Meat Boy (The End is Nigh) and it seems pretty good so far.

I've mainly been focusing on The Messenger this last week. Finished the game and unlocked the hidden weapon. Really enjoyed it, definitely feels like the Ninja Gaiden game that never was (minus the humor), didn't much care for the soundtrack in places though. I'm now playing Gris which is way more easy going but really beautiful, great music as well.

Link's Awakening! Day one purchase for me. Probably a marmite art atyle but I liked it.

Mario Maker 2 should please a lot of people.

Lots of RPGs shown. Dragon quest 11 looked very Zelda-ish, probably gonna pick that up. Fire emblem looked like Harry Potter meets Game Of Thrones, I'm on board with that.

Heck, that Tetris 99 is free to play and is pretty addicting.

Wasn't too impressed with Nintendo direct, 80% of the games shown all looked the same, pleased about Super Mario Maker 2 and the Tetris 99, Link's Awakening looked like a great remake.

So what did everyone think of the Nintendo direct last night? Wasn't much for me but it was great to see so many games going out for the switch this year, Zelda links awakening looked amazing and I will be picking that up. I was disappointed that they didnt show off Bayonetta 3 which must mean its still a way off but Astral Chain looked pretty interesting just hope the partner dynamic isnt online only.

I've been thinking of trying out a fire emblem game for a while now but what they showed of the new one last night has put me right off, looked so boring.
