That's disappointing to hear, the original is still one of the best arcade games. Is the original game unlockable in any way? I'd still kill for an arcade perfect port of Rainbow Islands on Switch, too.

There's small speculation that because of a certain ongoing virus and the Japanese Ratings Board closing till the end of May that Hamster's Arcade Archive series might soon release some of the games it released on PS4 before the Switch was a thing, as those are already rated and to keep their consistent Guinness World Record going, which does include Bubble Bobble at least so we could see that possibly.

Speaking of retro, a few NES games like Double Dragon 1-3, River City Ransom, and such are available to purchase separately on the eShop and other consoles.

Yeah the arcade version is there all ready to go. At least it is Bub n Bob on the go! Recently played Rainbow Islands on Mega Drive for the first time - I had great fun, excellent conversion!

What's going on is that there's massive demand for games consoles now that nearly everyone's got to stay at home because of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, with China having pretty much shut down for a couple of months in order to slow the spread of it, production schedules are also out of whack so in any case will only be making models that were planned months in advance before any of this kicked off.

Throw in Nintendo's ever conservative business models, where they'll never make much more than the anticipated demand in any case, and Switches are particularly thin on the ground.
I ordered in February, and I've heard people who ordered after me have received their consoles. Nintendo UK support is useless too (based on contact with them as far back as December when I had issues ordering, so coronavirus can't be blamed), and they don't have a complaints procedure. I won't be surprised if I never receive my console. After I made my post above, I contacted the official store and was told my Switch would be shipped on April 14th at the latest. It's now April 18th. They're sending stock out, just not to me and a few others I'm aware of. They've also apparently put Switch's up for next day dispatch this month.

Yes, Nintendo UK customer service is useless at the best of times.

It would appear that the limited supply is mostly being snapped up by the checkout bots of the price gouging resellers at the moment. If you want to get your hands on one, using such a bot to buy it seems to be the way to go.

It puzzles me, they have had 2-3 years to buy a Switch, now all of a sudden people want one and the more idotic people are paying over the odds for it.

I thought all those types of Nintendo fans already own one?

They probably do, not every person buying one now is a dedicated 'Nintendo fan'. I think it's a combination of gaming being an obvious thing to pass the time at this time, and also the Animal Crossing hype. I know a PC gamer at work who just one specifically for Animal Crossing. The used price of AC: New Leaf has shot up as well, a game that's been out over 7 years.
Pratty's trade list, updated (May 2019)!

I guess I must not be a nintendo fan anymore because I haven't bought one yet lol. I was actually planning on getting one this year but no way would I pay past retail for a 3yo machine especially when supply could be back to normal by end of year. My coronavirus bonus will burn a hole in my pocket until then.

Think the implication that those types of (mostly) Nintendo fans will over pay for something just to have it.

BUT ITS NINTENDO!!!! 8( )

Anyway, scalpers can get to feck

Ring Fit Adventure is another one. It sold beyond Nintendo's expectations when it came out and now that everyone needs it for exercise indoors, it has shot up in price but occasionally returns in stock every now and then, just have to get lucky...

....or go with Fitness Boxing which is digitally available.

My friend had this happen to him - he got scammed £130 and it was spent on Fortnight items
