Console wars are healthy anyway as it builds excitement for the products and makes you very excited for what youre NOT getting as well. I was MD through and through but some SNES games i really longed for as a friend kr two had them.

The war in the marketplace between the manufacturers was over my head as a child, obviously I knew they were competing as all companies do but it wasn't something I paid much attention to.

As for playground "my console is better than yours" arguments, they never happened in my circles. If anything everyone was more jealous over what the other person had, everyone else's different consoles seemed more exotic and more interesting than your own, and vice versa your friends would feel the same way about your systems. Everyone went to each other's houses after school to play the systems they didn't own.
