Not 100% sure, but I'd hazard a guess at FreeSpace 2.

Tbh with everything that's going on there, it's quite possible it's a tech demo or a '3d mark' type benchmarker.

There isn't really thatmuch going on. There's a sky box all around, a big ship which is semi detailed and a small ship which looks good. The smoke is the only significant effect. Clever texture work mostly. That's why I think it may be a game, the shot looks more complex than it is if you break t down.
