CEX gave me 33 quid for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl today. Ebay would not have got me much more.

Farnborough one had an N64 for about £60, next to half a dozen Wiis at £40.
I bet they're not paying much to people bringing in N64s though.

I didn't see much going in the Glasgow store - but a few weeks ago they were selling 3 copies of the Gamecube port of Metal Gear Solid for over £50 each. All I saw at the weekend there (I wasn't there for the pride march - I was off getting a tattoo - non-game related) was a single SNES game in the window - I don't even remember what it was. G-Force across the road (below Central Station) has a decent selection though - as it always has.

I think that particular branch was taking the proverbial. On the CEX website the Xbox version is listed as selling for £22.

Welp, my local one got more retro stock.

Stuff like Turok 3 for £28, SNES Wrestlemania games for £10-12 each, boxed Turok Rage Wars for £8, etc.

Was there a limited edition version of shenmue2 with a bonus dvd? I remember having one but sold it to music magpie a while back rather stupidly for peanuts.

i was thinking it was London prices or something.

It came with the Shenmue The Movie DVD as standard - a nice little thing for those who hadn't played the first game and needed a catch-up.

And not even London prices would explain a 300-500% discrepancy!

There was, but CEX lists both versions as having the same selling price. The branch you went into was probably trying to cash in on the Shenmue 3 hype and fool some poor soul into paying way over the odds for the game.

Banbury CEX has the DVD inc Edition for £22 as well. They have half a dozen N64 carts in (Mario Party for 38 quid anyone?) and a very sun-faded copy of True Lies on the MD for £30

See I'd rather pay an extra few quid to buy them off ebay instead so I can see the condition in photos.

From CEX the labels could be ripped off, the plastic could be orange, the country code could be german or something random, etc etc.

Not to mention the possibility of fake carts.

I use to get my SNES games from the odd local indie or Gamestation, which is to say not very many because they didn't have many. That would have been 1999ish before I discovered ebay.
