There are a few 8bit micro games I would play again despite my dislike of 8bit micros. That era almost put me off gaming for good. It was a mate buying a Master System that rekindled my interest (though I ended up getting a NES after playing SMB on a Playchoice 10).

8 bit micro games - Chuckie Egg, Jet Set Willy (esp. the CPC464 version with the bug fixes and extra areas), Thrust, Spindizzy and Leaderboard.

I played a lot of NES games and I could easily 5 pick of those even leaving out the SMB games - Solomon's Key, Solar Jetman, Balloon Fight, Dropzone (this was an 8bit micro game too but it is brilliant on NES) and Boulderdash (ditto).

Glad someone's paying attention!

My thinking is, if I get an emulator, which platform, and what should I try on it?

All of mine are for the CPC.

Fruit Machine (Amsoft) - | still love firing it up nowadays. Of course, anyone epileptic near me would likely need serious medical assistance whenever I get the jackpot...

Logistic - Lesser-known game as it was Public Domain, but I was introduced to it courtesy of an Amstrad Action covertape - this got enough play-time to seriously threaten the life of the tape. The simplest way to describe it is that you have 2 players making stacks of tokens (or coins) - up to a pile of 4. If you put a 5th one on, it spills over to the surrounding squares on the grid. If any of your opponents coins are on those squares, they become yours. It gets rather chaotic when you start getting chain reactions going.

Uridium - As fast and smooth as any other formats version.

Any Dizzy Game - enter egg-related pun here...

Rescue on Fractulus - Maybe not the best version, but still great.

Rebelstar 2 mainly.

Put a Speccy in front of me and I will usually pick that, Quazatron, Renegade, Green Bert and Bomb Jack.

Now though that Ive just got me a new Hyperspin setup I think all I'll be doing now is playing a bunch of 8-bit games ive never played before on systems I didn't know even existed.. so this will be a nice turnaround : ) Time to venture into 8-bit once again!

Nope - I liked it so much that I even wrote what seems to be the only FAQ for it online (handy if you're emulating it and don't have the reel list...)
