I am sure a game called dancing monster came with my c64. you had to shoot body parts off this creature. Rubbish. A cartridge football game came with it too. I cant remember the name. Good for its day. if anyone recalls this post the name please. Knowing my luck it will be called c64 football.

That would probably be International Soccer. It remains surprisingly fun to this day, as does International Basketball.

Zoom on the Speccy 48k, used to feel very sad when the hostages got shot and flew up in the air, it really traumatised me when i was 5!

I got into the Speccy through a mate of mine who got one back in 1983. I didn't get one of my own until 1985. :( The first game I ever played was Manic Miner on my mate's system. On my own system it was the incomparable and quintessential platformer Monty On the Run.

I remember saving up the £5.95 to buy Manic Miner from Boots in Kenilworth, UK. So exciting in those days :)

First game I ever played on an 8-Bit computer was Horace goes Skiiing on the Speccy. But it wasnt my computer. My first Comp was an Atari 800xl and the first game i played on that was Elektraglide - which I thought was awesome at the time...

My first game on the c64 was Double Dragon (loved the arcade version). Oh what a mistake thank god Delta was next a few minutes later.

The first proper game I played was Heroes of Karn (see games comparison thread) on the C64, but when my parents bought me the computer (from a catalogue IIRC), they didn't bother getting a storage device to go with it - so I didn't have a tape deck or disk drive to store anything on or load games from. I ended up programming a text-only cricket game in C64 BASIC, copying the code to a notebook and leaving the computer switched on all the time so that I wouldn't have to re-type the whole thing. Until one day I returned from school to find my mum had unplugged the thing so she could clean up. Aaaaaaaaaaaargh!

I think I got a tape deck soon after that - not a genuine Commodore one but one of the cheaper clones. Cheaper and less reliable... it worked about 50% of the time - if I was lucky.
