A fistful of SIDs naturally... too many to mention all but they include Last Ninja II, Thrust, Monty on the Run, Driller, Stormlord and Parallax. There's also quite a lot of Capcom's music on the SNES, especially the Megaman series and Area 88. Plus Link to the Past (beautiful) and Super Castlevania. Most of Rare's stuff on the N64. Of the last gen, it's hard to pick anything out especially, but the Metroid Prime suites were beautifully understated at times and many times just blended in seamlessly to the action and environment.
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

Wow, this is a tough one!

Now I'm thinking about it I'm going to have to look uo a few that I don't already have on my iPod :P

Street Fighter II - (Multi)

The one that I remember very well is Balrogs stage. It's just really catchy and it gets better when it speeds up (when either player is very low on health).

Killer Instinct (Arcade)

The title music (The Instinct) is amazing. Cinders theme (Meltdown) is also a hardcore rock track that is just so well suited to this genre of game.

Tekken 2 - (Arc, PS)

GENIUS. Its really that simple. If you LOVE TECHNO - do whatever it takes to find the Tekken 2 OST. you have simply got to hear KING's theme. It is my fave game tune of all time and through some jiggery pokery, I have also used it in a nightclub when DJing. 9 out of 10 cats that I introduced this piece to, lapped it up.
Other highlights (and there are many) include :

Middle Boss - Original and the remix
Nina - Original
Bruce - Original
Anna - Original and remix
Michelle - Original
Kazuya - Original
Playstation Opening Movie
Character select

Tekken 3 - (Arc, PS)

After the sublime Tekken 2 Techno tunes the follow up sequel went for a more "Hard Rock" flavour which I didn't appreciate much at first. However, there are some hidden gems including Ling and Julias respective stages.

Tekken 4 - (Arc, PS2)

A change in direction for the black sheep of the Tekken family, but it does actually have some very chilled out and trance like tunes including - The Inner Shrine, Streets and Authentic Sky. I IMPLORE ANYONE who likes chill out tracks to download this (Authentic Sky) and tell me what they think! It's BEAUTIFUL - and very out of place in a fighting game.

Tekken 5 - (Arc, PS2)

Moonlight Wilderness - Dramatic as hell and gets you pumped! Seriously hardcore.

Wonderboy III - (MD)

Its the same tune throughout the whole game if my memory serves me correct but it's one that just lingers in your head for ages and comes up once in a while - especially when in a chirpy mood!

Shinobi - (Arcade)

Will somebody PLEASE re-release this game in all it's original splendour!! What do we have to do in life to see an arc perfect port on our PS2/3??

Revenge of Shinobi - (MD)

Plenty of tracks on this game, but for me the standout tune is Long Distance which can be heard here :
http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/se ... hin-ld.mid

Althought the game version sounds better!

I actually bought a Game Gear and Shinobi just to listen to this track on the move as it is in both versions.

King of Fighters '94 - (Arc, Neo Geo)

Japan Stage.

The first time I heard the crowd roar when scoring in Kick Off - that was an aweseome experienced , and something I'd not witnessed outside of a real football ground

where to start ..... probably more than half of my mp3 player is taken up with computer tunes

I find that I like quite a lot of rather crap tunes depending if I played the game a lot. The more I played the game the more the tunes grow on me.

anything by Whittaker (electra glide, knight games)

switch blade
outrun
monkey island
indiana jones FOA
Ultima tunes
supremacy
times of lore
goonies
space doubt
temple of asphai trilogy
strider
