Your Fave Magazines (Past or Present)

For me, It was CVG (Computer + Video Games) when they had the high five scoring system and the yellow pages (with Hunter the dog ^_^)...god there was some good reviews in the mag, the faves being Final Fantasy and FF7
Then there was the Sega Saturn Magazine, which was also so well done...and I didn't even own a Saturn when I started buying the mag >_< Thats a sign of a great mag.
There was Maximum, which lasted only six issues which was a shame as the in-depth coverage of the games was just immense, and yet it wasn't boring like Edge magazine (bring on the hate ^_^)
Mean Machines...well I think we all know how awesome that was ^_^
My fave current magazine is Gamesmaster, though as soon as I get more income I might get Games (TM) a try ^_^

New Computer Express and Micro Mart. They have a retro section in Micro mart too.

SuperPlay - for everything.
I had the entire set from issue 1 and they got chucked (not by me or with my knowledge) with the rest of my old mags in the clearout during a house move.

Here you go then...
Computer + Video Games
As I said in a previous post, I have about two or three boxes of these dating back to the late 1980's.
I would say that Your Sinclair was my favourite magazine, as it was crap, in a funky skillo sort of a way!
And C+VG either joint first or very close second!
I alway's loved reading Yob's Mailbag.

I've answered this before somewhere, but anyway, here's what I would regularly buy in the past:
Micro User / Acorn User
Mean Machines Sega

This magazine was hilarious! Or at least it was back then, I'll have to re-read one to see if still has the same charm. Anyone remember Giles' Jolly Jumpers?
Without doubt the best ST magazine, covered all facets of a versatile machine.
It's nice to be treated with a bit a respect now and again. Intelligent and extremely well written.
Unadulterated nostalgia and the chance to discover something new each month, great stuff.

Retrogamer is the only one I read now though!!

Damn, I forgot PCG. I used to love for that for some reason, but it was back before magazines had really started to become fun. I remember being gutted when the next issue never appeared and it was quite a while before I was ableto accept that it had gone for good. I was a stupid child.

For me it had to be Mean Machines. Owning imported machines in the early 90's, their coverage of brand new jap games was a god send. C +vg was also a great read, particularly 86-89 with mr Takoushi reviewing msx games, and reviews of american nes games.

Zzap!64 is my favourite mag of all time.
I also like The One, CU Amiga, Amiga Action and Amiga Format and Amiga Active.
I never understood the point of multi-format mags, since why would I want a mag that had less than half about my computer, when I can get one that specialised in mine?
Of course, now I get RG, the multi-format theme is part of the interest. But, that's because it's not about current systems (well, mostly).

ZZAP!64 followed by any of the Newsfield mags. I also bought C&VG, CU and many other mags but somehow didn't entirely trust their reviews.
