I wouldnt say good or bad but The Metal Gear Acid series was an ok deviation from the main series. I still don't get the Japanese obssession with cards but oh well!

Continuing with RTS theme:

Warcraft 1/2/3->World of Warcraft. WOWs not for me but a few people love it. Warcraft 3 was a brilliant game.

Command & Conquer -> Renegade. Didn't review well, but I really liked it!

Battletech & Mechcommander games are quite different to Mechwarrior games.
