Going Digital - replacing printed RG issues with DVD?

Post by quantum » Mon May 02, 2016 1:22 pm

I've been reading and collecting Retro Gamer since issue 40, however, I'm running out of space to store them! So I've decided to sell a chunk of the early issues and hopefully replacing them with DVD emag versions.

Can you still get hold of the DVDs? If not is my only option buying them from the Google play store? £££

How about a game screenshot quiz? Amiga, DOS, Megadrive and Commodore 64.

The google play ones are iffy

Cant save to SD card and sometimes the quality is bad

Fancy backgrounds are good and all but it makes the text unreadable, there is the black and white versions, but for the most part that screws up the page layout

Bear in mind that the RG e-mag DVD's only currently consist of three volumes with Load 3 going up to issue 80 so anything beyond that isn't available. Also completely out of stock on the Imagine site.
Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

I get the paper mag but i do buy the small emags or bookazines from the online store. Find reading it fine on an iPad.

Thanks for your help guys.

I think a while ago I saw DVDs on eBay that covered up to RG 120. Hmm, perhaps they weren't legit...

It's a shame a magazine that knows all about collecting and that online services perhaps won't last forever, no longer offer physical digital copies, i.e. DVDs

There is also a set of e-mags that collects the 'retro' sections of gamesTM (titled simply as 'Retro'). Could be mixing these up with the RG ones perhaps?

Must admit, the paper mountain soon won't squeeze under my bed and I've been considering moving them on, but I don't like downloads, I did like the original DVD sets, but as pointed out Vol 3 only went upto issue 80, I think from that point on from a company cost effective point of view, it was cheaper to offer mags for download at a price.

Looks like I'll just be keeping my paper copies.

I assume the iTunes / Google play downloads are protected and thus can't be viewed on a PC?
