Dream Gaming Holiday Destination
I'm sure we've all thought it playing a game, "Cor blimey this looks a nice game, I wouldn't mind going on holiday to a place like that" So the question is a simple one...in what game world would you like to visit for a holiday? Maybe a scenic tour of Hyrule or an all inclusive in Vice City? Which game makes you wish that Thomas Cook did package deals to visit.
For me it'd be Medici in Just Cause 3. It's actually quite relaxing to be standing by the beach watching locals do a bit of fishing with the ambient music playing. Even with a hostile sky fortress hanging in the sky, poised to rain death at any moment it's rather tranquil.

^ Ha! My first thought for an answer. I wouldn't mind a short stay in Eorzea (FFXIV), always safe enough if you don't go wandering.

A vacation to Zack Island from the Xtreme series would be nice...paranoid marvin wrote:Where is Dead or Alive set?
Failing that, it would have to be nice little seaside town of Balamb from Final Fantasy VIII for me.
Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

It would be a toss up (oh dear) between Nontoonyt or Delfino Island.

I find the Far Cry games could easily be used as promo material for travel agencies, but the same could also be said for the Uncharted series. The Serious Sam games are good in this regard too since you can take a trip to ancient Egypt or some of the Roman or Greek themed games. Sci-fi games are also very good in portraying locations that only exist in our imagination, but space themed games might have an element of realism to them, as commercial space travel is not far fetched anymore. As for RPGs, well there's LARP stuff which trys to faithfully re-create it in reality. The Ultima creator, Lord British, used to make his home a setting for live-action role playing for guests or friends. The more cartoony/unreal stuff can be re-created in theme parks, I have heard Nintendo invested into them and Lego Land is a thing since quite some time.
