Romero teasing new game?

This will either be something that will top Doom II or something that will burn like Daikatana. Good thing he's being offered a keyboard and mouse though, I hope that symbolically means it's gonna be a old-school, PC-oriented title...

That was last week. Now it's on Unreal Engine 4.

I'd be much more excited if it was the other Carmack.

Hey, don't be mean to id Tech 3, it was the best-looking engine in 1999 and still kinda lives on in CoD today in a highly modified version.

Daikatana conceptually wasn't bad, the problem was that it was released way too late and was way overhyped. People expected more greatness in the like of Doom and Quake, what they got was a unbalanced game with questionable level design, quite ironic comming from the level making mastermind that is Romero. I hope he learned his mistakes though and will now deliver what people wish for.

To be fair, the game engine wars of old are already kinda over. Nowadays, you have very capable and modern engines like Unreal Engine 4, Cry Engine 3 and Unity 5 readily available to anyone who wants to (and knows to) make a game, it's just a matter of skills and taste which engine suits your needs best. Carmack realized that too, hence he kinda backed out from competing with Epic and the other guys. Great props for his achievements in coding in the past but we have to look at things realistically.

Also, all the cool artwork and demons from Doom were Adrian's work, I have no doubt he will make great artwork again.

Wish him all the best, as he was a top guy @ Revival 2014.

So this is why he's moved to Ireland...

How about a game screenshot quiz? Amiga, DOS, Megadrive and Commodore 64.

Wonder why the Kickstarter was cancelled after 2 days. Finding was going at an okay pace

They are making a playlable demo to show people how it's gonna look like. Not a bad decision if you ask me, there should be more game demos out there like there were once (open betas might have taken that function today but it's kinda not the same).
