Doesnt surprise me either. I definitely didnt play it in the arcade as I was in Germany at the time and we bought the commodore off a neighbour with loads of floppy disks with about 5 games a piece per disk such as ghostbusters 1 and 2, both transformers, donald ducks playground (by the way another contender for quirky games!) pac man, asterix, typhoon (obviously) some weird santa game where you travelled to houses and left presents, paperboy, some adrian mole text games and loads of others.

I'd actually be quite annoyed if I saw Pac Man, the most universally well know arcade conversion ever, in a Minority Report article for any machine. It kind of misses the point don't you think?

Sex Games.... C'mon you know you all waggled your joystick to that one! The level with 6 blokes and a woman was very hard to get the rhythm right though

Wavy Navy - Space Invaders on a rough sea was jolly good.

William Wobbler - damn hard, massive main character.

Some of these games look phenomenal. I'd be happy to see the entire magazine devoted to half page reviews of and the stories behind each and every one of them.

Gryphon - Quicksilver/Tony Crowther... quite a quirky game, again with big sprites. Had this on a 'back-up' and remember it was a pig to load

Dinky Doo - Software Projects. Now this IS a quirky little game and damn hard too. Not sure what category it falls into as it isn't a platformer - I suppose a kind of maze game crossed with Berzerk??!!

Not sure if it fits exactly what you are looking for, but how about something like Siren City?
Hercules (IIRC) - platformer that made you leap out into nothingness before the platforms spawned.

Elidion with the fairy(not the Lucas arts game) awesome if you feature this...

Equaliser not the old guy from the TV series but a Wonderboy clone..

Night Stalker kid in a nightcap stuck on an evil chess board every time the Knight landed on a square it would turn it red, and the crowd would kick you if you got to close to them..

Peace Woman purely for how politically incorrect the cover sterotype left wing lesbian looking woman in dungaree's, short hair and driving a Sinclair C5.. In game the signs read "Jeff Munter is repulsive"(or was it it Llama's)
"Crush the Old Order and CREATE A NEW SOCIETY!"

I'd have to second Cliff Hanger, one of the few games I've never played anything quite like since. Would have been an excellent use of the Road Runner license.

Totally agree with the top statement and FGTH is a work of art.

Scarabaeus - released in 1985. Weird 3D maze game. Pretty cool.
