Yes, they are. Back when Indiegogo said they were going to step in there was widespread coverage across the games press.

Mainly though, it's been Gareth Corfield at The Register and Leo Kelion at the BBC who've been keeping the story in the news. RCL seemingly went out of their way to rankle both of them and I can't see either letting it die quietly.

Time to run the poll again....? From who is going to, to who still thinks they will get what they paid for, be it in quality or indeed anything full stop

I think the 17 Yes votes will be down to 1 vote (psj being that 1 person) and the rest will be NO.

I was looking back at this topic (over the years, it's now stretched), where I was a 'can't decide, probably a no.'

I'm pretty sure which way I know I lean now :)

I'd have to say that my Yes was almost entirely down to Chris Smith being in charge of the technical side of the project.

Without him it was never going to be as good, although they still ought to have been able to make something if they hadn't run up those huge legal bills.

Nowadays, I'd be wanting a third option that someone - and I'm sure you can figure out who by now - should be facing charges of criminal fraud over this.

God yes, reading some of the things that have come out in the past week, and much has actually been confirmed by the ones in the firing line- it cannot just stop with termination of positions, there HAS to be charges to follow. It makes for quite disgusting reading, and the 'other side' for want of a better term are certainly being vindicated, confirming much of what they have been saying for months.

Disgraceful. For the sake of future pledge campaigns, they need to be answerable, accountable.

So...anyone got their 'email' yet, let alone unit? :)

Who would press charges and pay for legal action though?

Yeah, that's a fair point. And I'm not sure how fair trading laws work in the UK. But it's clear they've got stuck into the 'ring fenced' backers money, paid themselves salaries and had dinner expenses on the backers, before you even go into the other costs they have used the money for, as well as clocking up big debts. All the things they have denied are now emerging.
If nothing is done, who would go near a Indigogo or kickstarter again (unless you know them/trust them, have a proven track record)?

So, which is the bigger fiasco, this of the Coleco Chameleon?

Definitely this. Nobody lost money on the Chameleon, except Mike Kennedy.

That's largely down to eagle eyed members of the public spotting that the hardware wasn't what it was supposed to be and Kickstarter pulling the plug on it as a result. Had they actually raised the money, I'd think that we'd be looking at a mess of similar proportions.

That said, I don't think Mike Kennedy was ever planning to stiff his lawyers like RCL are alleged to have done.

Mike just got carried away with an idea and tried some dubious methods to keep things going. It doesn't bear comparison to this.

Obviously stuff like this happens quite regularly. The icontrolpad 2 was similar, no one got anything, Craig Rothwell was in charge of this and lots of people lost out....

Dont get me wrong i'm annoyed by the Vega Plus story, i do feel its bad on BOTH sides though, i get frustrated as some people seem to think the ex directors are 100% innocent in all of this.

What with the Elite keyboard, iControlpad and the Vega i dont think i'll bother with any Kickstarters again (Unless its Bitmap books or Boyo's)

There's only one side that's guilty of taking our money and not delivering the goods.
