Fave pinball games?

Post by outdated_gamer » Mon Dec 14, 2015 4:53 pm

I like me some nice pinball games, but I don't know all that many. My personal faves used to be Psycho Pinball, Pro Pinball, 3D Ultra Pinball and more recently I'm also playing some Pinball Arcade which is quite solid (heard good things about Pinball FX but I hesistate to install it due to supposed addware). I also liked Pinball on NES as a youngling (still fire it up on emulators for time to time) despite the questionable physics and I also like Kirby's Pinball Land on the original Game Boy (less fond of Sonic Spinball on the MD due to, imo, broken physics). Heard good things about Balls of Steel too, but haven't played it.

What about you, what pinball games did you enjoy the most?

Write away.

Pinball Dreams/Fantasies/Illusions and Slam Tilt on the Amiga.
Psycho Pinball, Pure Pinball 2.0 and Pro Pinball on the PC.
I also played Midnight Magic on the Atari 2600 a lot!

I'm in the (apparent) minority that really enjoys Sonic Spinball. Yeah, the physics are janky at best, but once you get used to them it's a really fun romp with some nice design touches.

Otherwise, some of my faves over the years are:

Psycho Pinball
Extreme Pinball
Pokemon Pinball
Dragon's Fury / Devil's Crush / Devil's Crash
Dragon's Revenge
Kirby's Pinball Land

Btw, Pinball FX is indeed really good!

Got to agree with all those games. Dragons fury is probably my fave.

Also on the PS2 I enjoyed that hybrid pinball game called Flipnic. Certainly a lot of fun.

Also pinball arcade. Being able to play the terminator and Star Trek tables without having to spend a fortune buying the real thing is a massive bonus.

Jaki Crush on the Super Famicom. I love the evil graphics and the awesome music.

Other than that? Epic Pinball is always worth a brief go, again, excellent music. It was rare to get that kind of mod music in PC games. These days it has to be Zen Pinball on my iPad. The tables are so intricate and detailed.

Pinball FX2, for me, is the best of all time.

I do love me some of that Dreams/Illusions goodness on the Amiga also.

Kirby Pinball Land is one of the very best Gameboy games.

I played a lot of Advanced Pinball Simulator on the Speccy but it truly was balls.

Pinball Dreams/Fantasies/Illusions - Amiga
Pinbot - NES
True Pinball - PS1
Zen Pinball - iPad

For all its faults I still enjoy Sonic Spinball. Not pure pinball, of course, so it probably doesn't qualify for the list. But hey, I like it!

Williams Pinball Classics is a fantastic collection.

Dragon's Fury/Revenge on the Sega Megadrive also holds many happy memories.

Both Pinball Dreams and Fantasies. Pinball Dream on the Amiga was great. My favourite tables were "Steel Wheel" and "Ignition". Look out for the homebrew port of it on the C64 - it's pretty good for the old breadbin. I loved Pinball Fantasies on the PC - it really made good use of VGA. My favourite table on that was "Party Land" - so quirky. I loved the multi flippers on that.

Psycho Pinball is also a favourite of mine - on the PC. That's pretty good.

Ive loved pinball games since Raster Blaster on the Apple II, always been a bit on an addict and played countless games. Faves are :

David's Midnight Magic is such a quirky little table but still is a lot of fun, the C64 version probably the best.
Pinball Dreams on the Amiga took away quite a chunk of my time.
Pro Pinball on PC is brilliant.
then the likes of Virtual Pinball came around and was the best for many years, you could play things like Indiana Jones on it, incredible.
.... and finally along came Pinball Arcade, which is the best by far. Better than Virtual Pinball, only hampered by the fact that there
are less tables to choose from, but what is on offer is just superb.

The only pinball game that ever held my attention was Pokémon Pinball on the GBC. Excellent game!

Another fan of Sonic Spinball and the Pokemon pinball games here.

Pinball Arcade on the iPad is a lot of fun.
