Your Top Voice Sample

Post by paranoid marvin » Thu Nov 26, 2015 7:52 pm

If you could only chose one voice sample from a game, what would it be and why?

Mine has to be the intro from 'Impossible Mission'. Prior to that I had never heard a computer talk, never mind laugh manically , and it's stuck with me ever since.

I'd have to agree on the Impossible Mission speech - Stuck in my mind forever!

But close second would have to be 'Ghostbusters'!

Oh, and Suicide Express when it reads out hour score.

Obviously the above are the C64 versions.

My best mate had a speccy and I must admit to being impressed with the farty speaker on Nodes of Yessod.

First time i ever heard speech in an arcade was Berzerk. Never forgot that eye widening moment as an 10 year old. :) So that's my choice.

I also had a disc on my C64 that had a sample of the Carl Douglas song 'Kung Fu Fighting' which always sticks in my mind for some reason.

"Another visitor...stay awhile, stay forever..."

Taled of The Arabian Nights used to make me laugh... its impossible to work out what it's saying.

"The tension is mounting" & "Quiet please" on Steve Davis' Snooker on the Spectrum. Ok, it wasn't great but it amazed me at the time!

The "Oh No!" of a lemming as it's about to spontaneously combust.

Shouldn't that be 'Wise from your gwave'? :)

The opening scream sample from Way of the Exploding Fist (C64). Not only made me jump everytime I loaded the game, but it's also a Bruce Lee sample for bonus points too.

I'd have to go with the OP as previously posted:
http://www.retrogamer.net/forum/viewtop ... 1#p1034401

Solo Flight was impressive for its day, a wide range of speech from the flight tutor that was clear and useful in his directions.

In the arcade, I liked Gorf taunting players.

I remember being amazed at the menu music in World Cup Striker on SNES with voices and all. I just never expected that from my SNES with a "regular" (meaning reasonable size and no Super FX chip) cartridge.
Yours sincerely, the little voice in your head that talks when you read.

"Welcome to Jurassic Park" - said my SNES.

Not a C64 owner before that then?
