Amstrad Speccy C64 - hit squad range

Post by RodimusPrime » Sun Oct 04, 2015 10:21 am

whenever I see any cassette games with the hit squad label, It always makes me feel nostalgiac.

Just something about the packaging and the way it looks that I love, Its also to do with the games that game out on that budget lable as well of course.

Nowadays releases ( especially the PS platinum range, the xbox 360 classics etc ) all seem to look cheap and nasty, these always looked great when on a shelf together.

anyone else love the old hit Squad repackaging on the old 8-bits.

i think this is in the wrong section . . .

But yeah, Hit Squad games look awesome. I was considering collecting them for a while myself sometime ago.

An article in that mag about the range would be nice. there is just something about the whole range that really appeals to me.

I have an empty shelf ATM and although I don't have any of the 8bit home computers anymore I find myself thinking how nice it would look to fill that space up with these games.

First thing I did every month once I got my pocket money was to check out the hit squad stuff all be it for the CPC.

Always thinking looking at the spine just how many games there was for each genre.

I have quite a few of these for the Spectrum, I used to buy them when I was young too and I have great memories of them.

I have my own fond memories of buying Hit Squad Batman (1986) for the dear old Speccy in 1990. The technical quality of 8 bit titles levelled out around '86, so there were tons of great productions out there for just three quid like John Ritman and Bernie Drummond's classic. Good times :)

The Hit Squad was iconic. Mostly brilliant games re-released at a pocket friendly price.

Me and my brother had a few Hit Squad titles.

I'm more nostalgic about the Hit Squad games for the Atari ST (they also did them for the Amiga). Ghostbusters II and Super Hang On particularly stand out. I've since acquired others like Pang and Batman the Movie. They weren't as aesthetically appealing as the big box counterparts (Treasure Trap is a particular favourite there and bought for £2.99 in a sale back in the day) but you couldn't argue with the £7.99 price point and the library of games.
