AMIGA 1200 PRICE

Post by clarance » Sat Sep 12, 2015 4:24 pm

I'm looking to buy a replacement Amiga 1200 - mine has virtually given up the ghost - I've been checking eBay over the last week or so, prices seem sky high - seems a base unit alone without a PSU now seems to go for around £100+

Is this the going rate now for the A1200? Has the Amiga in general seen a retro resurgence? I've noticed the A500 seems to be commanding a much higher price these days as well...

The refurbished ones often sell for £100+ and if you buy one with a large HD and SD card you can be looking at nearer £300.
Just had a quick look and there are several below £60 at the moment, they will probably go up with bidding though.

Every time I consider a CD32 or A1200 and see the price on Ebay, I just tell myself that WinUAE is absolutely perfect as it is.

Yeah amigas are getting chronically expensive especially if they're boxed. I've been chasing after 1 for a good price for ages...

Plenty of good games have been released for the Amiga which is what has pushed prices skywards.

Hmm wonder what my A1200 with 850Mb HD and 10mb 020 card would go for? Not that I'd ever be able to bring myself to sell it - I had to make a lot of burgers to raise that 300 quid back in the day!
What was more amazing to me was the challenge of making it work on the less capable Commodore 64. It was a real nightmare implementation, but I did it. - Archer Maclean

I am just glad I own most of the Amiga machines I want. Prices are rising fast these days. Looks like I will never afford an A4000 at this rate

The A1200 stays quite high because its the perfect retro machine to play Amiga games, get a CF card and get access to thousands of games, its like getting a Everdrive for a console, higher initial payout but that's all you need. Ineed to get myself another one, but finding a place to keep it is the problem, I'm trying to clear the house as it is!

I was surprised at the high price it goes for. It's clearly a collectible machine now.

I've managed to get one in july (with PSU and a mouse) for 100€ at an used item shop and I felt it was a bargain! I also got one on eBay in june (I have four of them at present) for about 117€ and it was a good deal too. Generally, if it's in working condition, you won't get it for less than 200€. Then, if you want to use it with Whdload, you should take into account that expansion/accelerator boards aren't exactly cheap either
