What's your Tablet?

Post by MattyC64c » Sun Aug 23, 2015 11:19 am

How many of you guys have a Tablet and what type? Anyone got more than one?

My collection has got a bit silly now and I think I need to stop buying! I own an iPad Air 32GB, Google Nexus 7 32GB, Linx 10 Windows tablet, and my most recent purchase of last week was a Microsoft Surface 3.

The Surface was my most expensive yet, with the keyboard add-on the total cost was £600.

The Surface is also my best device for retro gaming, well it is when I plug in my 360 controller. And since the Surface is literally a PC, it can run most of the emulators I run on my main PC.

So, what you got?

Archos Gamepad (not as bad as many would lead you to believe - as long as you don't use the poor excuse for a D-pad!) used exclusively for emulation purposes and a Polaroid Tab 8 for everything else.

They were cheap. Very cheap.

Nexus 7, iPad Mini and Surface Pro here. I'd like to think that covers all the bases.

iPad 2. Don't use it for gaming. Use my PSP for "on the go" retro.

I've owned many in the past, right now I don't have one at all. Instead I have an iPhone 6 Plus which bridges the gap between phone and tablet just perfectly (for me).

My iPad Air which I use every day. The only gadget that gets used on a daily basis, mainly for the web, YouTube, emails and a bit of gaming.

I've got an nVidia Shield Tablet (waiting for the replacement to arrive after the recall), a JXD S7800B, a wikipad and a hudl2.

I also have a M.O.J.O. console and an Ouya.

I will probably buy the nVidia Shield TV when it is released in the UK.

My iPad 4, 32gb, is my main device. I got it in the first week of launch which is nearly 3 years ago now. I actullay don't own a computer and have coped without one since the first iPad. I've not fealt the need to upgrade it since and doubt I will unless it breaks or apple bring out an iPad with a larger screen.

I fairly recently bought the Mrs a Hudl2 which was recomended by a friend. I had £15 worth of Tesco Club Card vouchers which I could boost/ double up so got £30 off. I'm really impressed with it actually, it doesnt feel cheap at all. She has just used it for games really and we have watched a few films on it when on holiday. It has a HDMI out port on it so you can connect it up to your TV which is handy.

16GB iPad 3rd(?) gen. The first retina one, anyway. I also own an original iPad. That jump to retina is very impressive when you go between the two, I can tell you!

I've not been tempted to buy another tablet. Not even another iPad, really. It isn't that I don't use it, it's that it does everything I need it to do.

Got an ipad 3 (64 gig) , used to have an ipad 2 but found a fair few games sluggish on it. Also have a Hudl 2, had a problem with the power connector recently, out of warranty but Tesco picked it up and fixed it for free ! (Perhaps a common fault ?)

The Hudl 2 is a great device, runs everything i want, emulators, games i cant play on iOS like Quake II / Jedi Knight etc. The ipad i love, use it a lot for reading, my daughter loves educational apps on it and runners (cant stand runners !).

Love the ipad as i can use all of my apps i've bought for my phone, yeah its expensive but its lasted a long time and i'm not one of those people to get the latest ipad the second its released. The Hudl is amazing value, think its £109, very impressed with it
