Has anyone done this and saved a snapshot so the rest of us can try it?
better yet any one got a copy of the poke ???

Hail to Commando on the C64! Three of the greatest levels of gaming ever!
Yep Commando is excellent on the C64 but the Speccy version is also a great one
Yes it is, but the C64 is better, simply because of the great music!

So music is better than gameplay?

I think that the gameplay on both systems is very good & practically the same, but i love the SID music on the C64, which for me makes it a better (or more enjoyable) game to play.
I know it only had three levels but the great music kept me playing, as did many of the Commodore games such as Green Beret & Rambo II for example.

Look .... let's just settle it once and for alll:

THE C16 / +4 VERSION OF BOMBJACK IS THE BEST

(makes a run for it, SirClive won't be happy - I've said the C16 ver is better than the speccy one)

Y'know what? I've always thought bombjack was rubbish.

But I only every played the C64 version, I've heard that it's not the best of conversions, but I was always put off playing it again.

I liked the artwork in the magazine ads / boxart at the time though.

An absolute classic coin-op that still plays as well as it always has, and still manages to raise a smile thanks to its colourful visuals and catchy tunes.

EDITED

Chiptune, could you PLEASE start using your blog thread to promote your blogs. Resurrecting a thread from 2007 is fine if you have something to add to THIS forum, but your post is purely there as an ad for your blog. I have deleted this post from the Bombjack high score thread too.
You have a good blog that is enjoyed by many members here - by all means talk about the games you cover if you have something valuable to add.

But but, Bomb Jack is so old, there's loads of new games out that are way better.

Everyone who loves that must be an idiot who really hate their lives or something.

No surprise to see that article is lacking the utterly superb Atari XL/XE version.

Ah! Lovely Bombjack.

To this day, my favourite graphic from any game is the third level's backdrop (Neuschwanstein Castle). So iconic.

Speccy version was wonderfully spot on.

I want to play this again immediately.

I've said it before (probally in this topic, even) Bomb Jack is meh.

Bomb Jack II is FAR FAR FAR better dispite being a differnt type of game and not actully having bombs in it. For some reason you collect gold bags now. Very odd :? but an amazing game regardless.

It seems the majority of the retro gaming universe disagrees with your opinion. Perhaps you only ever played the C-64 and/or Amstrad CPC versions.

Bomb Jack is an excellent game. Its a great game on the Amstrad CPC too. I can't imagine that people that sits down and actually plays the CPC version doesn't enjoy it if they like game-mecanics of Bomb Jack and play it like it should be played. Collecting the 50 000 bonus for each round. The CPC and C64 version plays very differently as Bomb Jack is one of the few games were the C64 sprites are too big.

Gotta love the CPC. I was an Amstrad user and BJ isn't a bad game, I just didn't personally like it. It was too frustrating. I never felt I had enough control of the character after jumping. So meh it is. For me anyway.

BJ was always a good game... then I got married and they stopped!
