Sega Master System forgotten?

Post by Demonblaze » Mon Apr 23, 2007 2:29 pm

I don't know if this has been mentioned before and I'm too lazy to look! I loved the Sega Mega-Drive Collection on the PSP and regularly play mine to death (when will they release another one????) and it always gets me thinking, has Sega forgotten about the classics that graced their 8-bit beast? I'd gladly pay £20 for such a collection (especialy if it had as much bonus features), would you? And if so, which games would you like to see on the first one? I'll give some of mine;

Asterix & Obelix
Phantasy Star 1
Fantasy Zone(s)
The Cyber-Shinobi
Castle Of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
Zillion
Ys 1: Ancient Ys Vanished
Sonic 2 (The one that included hang gliding)

No is the short answer :)

I think that it really hasn't aged well as a games machine, and barring a couple of genuine all-time classics (Phantasy Star and Dragons Trap) I find it quite painful to revisit anything on it.

I would quite like a SEGA collection that contained cames from all of their consoles, but not a SMS specific one.

I wouldn't mid but it would have to be a decent price and
contain every game released for the system.

I currently play Master System games through my GP2x and PSP through emulation and the games look alot tidier & crisper on these small LCD screens, more so than NES games probably becase they're alot more colourful. And also there's alot more good games than you think, I mean I can't remember it being marketed that well here. Failing a collection it would be nice to see some of them available on the Virtual Console.

An essential you missed from your list would have to be Alex Kidd though. I'd buy it for sure.

Master Systems are nice little machines, its a shame they didnt capture the market share they needed to but of course I the great Sega2006 would love to see a SMS compliation, In the mean time I will just have to theive my brothers or buy a Convertor for either the MD or GG

Not fussed about a compilation, do play a ton of SMS games however on my GP2X/PPC. Great little system, some very nice Master System games out there.

I too wouldn't mind seeing Master System on Virtual Console! And would be surprised if it didn't appear sooner or later!

Quite like the master system myself so voted yes.

Have got 2 systems and about 90 cartridges, will be selling some of it off soon as dont have the space at the moment with an ever growing family .

Bye the way Duds any games you're after to add to your collection?

Lets us know and I can PM you if I've got em and what condition they are in.

Alex the kid never grew on me, I think it was his hair cut :P . But I am suprised at the negative votes so far. £20 for a retro compilation is a bargain as long as they made it up to the standards of the MD collection, and with Sega seeming to listen to fans through survey's on their site.I mean not all consoles/computers have aged gracefully but that dosn't really mean they have to be left out. Except maybe the barcode battler... that sucked donkey balls.

What the heck for, it was DIRE.

One of the most unplayable games on the MS.

If such a collection did come out they would need to include :

Ultima IV
Phantasy Star
Penguin Land
Y's
Psycho Fox

and all the Alex Kidd and Wonderboy titles

Willl do. I've added Sagaia since that pic. They're not as neat anymore since I moved to a much smaller space unfortunately.
