This was harder than I though. I ended up with a list of about 30 and had to cut some top games.

Now in order.

Splinter Cell
Halo Combat Evolved
Prince of Persia sands of time
Galleon
Black
Full Spectrum warrior
Fahrenheit Indigo Prophecy
Beyond good and evil
Fable
Jet set radio future

Splinter Cell had to be #1 for me. I remember walking into my local Curry's and seeing an Xbox running it. After playing the game for about 10 minutes I decided to buy the console just on the strength of how well it looked and played. (Previously I was never going to buy one - true story). :)

Ideally they should be in order of preference as all our top 10s are

I had at least 3-4 PS2 owning friends who bought a GC simply to play that game.
That's how I ended up with mine. I was out looking for a PS2, but everywhere was sold out (I seem to remember the cargo ship with the Christmas shipment had been delayed for some reason?). I walked into the Video Game Centre in Salisbury and the had an import GameCube running Rogue Squadron...
A friend of mine was doing freelance writing for some of the UK Sci Fi/Horror magazines (Starburst and the like) back in the day. One of them decided they were going to run a regular Videogames column catering for the Xbox and PS2. My friend asked if they intended to cover Gamecube as well but was told "Nintendo is just for kids". When he pointed out that Rouge Squadron could have actually been created by converting their readership's DNA into videogame form, the guy in charge replied "Nintendo is just for kids". Talk about not knowing the entire point of your own magazine and proving you shouldn't be writing a videogames column.

Yeah. I recall Rogue Squadron, Twilight Princess and RE4 really impressing me on the 'cube. The GC version of RE4 actually ended up looking better than the later PS2 version too since it was obviously written specifically for the GC whereas the PS2 game was just a port.

Would love to submit an Xbox top 10 but tbh, I have a small number of favourites which doesn't quite hit double figures. Other games I have played were either average titles or from the same series so I wouldn't really count them.
Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.
