What cheats do you remember for retro games.
I was looking through and playing a few of my retro games earlier and was trying to remember some cheats for them.
What cheats do you remember and can you list them for game and system.
The only ones I remember.
Sonic 1 on megadrive. Up-down-left-right-A+start Gave you a level select.
Mortal kombat on megadrive. Down-up-left-left-A-right-down. (dullard) enabled the blood.

3D Starstrike - Spectrum, pause the game then type 'I wanna cheat'
Re: What cheats do you remember for retro games.
Not a cheat as such, but a hidden part of a game anyway - when I was wee I got the spectrum light gun pack at Xmas and thought it would be funny to write SH*T on the high score screen of a game (rookie?)
Imagine my horror when it came up on the screen SH*T SOMEWHERE ELSE just as my whole family appeared to look at the fancy new computer

Kung Fu Master on the Commodore 64 press shift and 'G' and you could use a gun
Shadow Warriors arcade on the first level don't destroy the popcorn cart but instead jump on top of it, move down then forward.. The screen will scroll and you be in mid air and all the enemies walk past without attacking you

Commodore 16 Powerball if you press down on the joystick you could continue apart from the games impossible to complete because of that screen of garbage

Wait till Capcom appears then

in SF2, you could play the same characters against each others

James Pond 2: Robocod is the only proper one I remember, picking up the items on the roof at the start in the order that the first letter of each spells CHEAT. Can't remember exactly what the items were, but iirc there was a Hammer, Earth and an Apple there. I think it gave you infinite lives.

Re: What cheats do you remember for retro games.
Doom on PC and Mortal Kombat on Mega Drive are the most memorable to me but I have played both much later than they were originally released (I played the censored SNES MK where the lack of blood didn't even bother me, the problem was the incredibly un-responsive control). First time I used cheat codes for Doom was in Doom II where the enemy onslaughts just wouldn't stop and I got a bit frustrated by the lack of ammo...
And MK on MD was a rather poor port with bad graphics and sound and gimped control with the default pad but it had the blood and gore code going for it and was a bit more responsive than the SNES version. Neither were on par with the DOS version though, which was nigh "arcade perfect".
edit: oh and Mario 3's warp whistles spring to mind too. But that was more a secret than a cheat.

R-types on PS1 - Pause game and hold L2 then press Right,up,left, right, down, left,up,right and either square,x,circle or triangle for a full compliment of power ups and one of the main weapons.
The Sonic 2 one was the date of Sonic 2sday which was also my birthday.
Revenge of Shinobi infinite shuriken cheat.
MK Blood cheat on the MD.
The Road Rash cheat for easy money. Still use it to this day , Diablo bike on first levels does seem like a rocket .

Cybernoid 2 I think was redefine the keys to SEXY backwards - YXES and I think Cybernoid 1 was ORGY backwards - YGRO. Could have been the other way around...
And in Monty on the Run, if you put your name in the high score board as 'I want to cheat' then start a new game, on the second screen is a ship in the water that kills you - pick it up and you're invincible
