Been trying to do this all week and failing completely have decided its best to do it quick, like ripping off a plaster. Yes each game I love that didn't make the list feels like an arm hair being yanked out at the root. :(

X-com UFO defence.
Xenoblade Chronicles
Zelda A Link to the Past
Advance Wars
Monkey Island
Super Metroid
Earthbound
Shenmue
Eternal Darkness
Fallout 3

I also couldn't put them in any order. Really wanted to put Kings Bounty and Spiderman vs Kingpin on here as they are two favourites of mine that I saw a couple of people had put down and it would be nice to raise them up the list. Also Dan Dare pilot of the Future which is one of my favourite speccy games. Oh well.

Wii Sports Resort is one of the great joys of gaming!

I've enjoyed reading everyone's choices.

1. GTA Vice City (inc. Vice City Stories - if I can do that) - PS2/PSP
2. Super Mario World - Super Nintendo
3. Super Mario Kart - Super Nintendo
4. Sensible Soccer - Sega Mega Drive
5. Wii Sports Resort - Wii
6. Chaos - Spectrum
7. Robocop - Spectrum
8. Commandos - PC
9. NHL 2007 - PSP
10. Blade Runner - PC

Wow, no Resident Evil game. I've shocked myself!

There is a book out called 1001 video games you should play that people could reference. I don't agree with some of the entries both in the book and on here; but here is my top 10.

Top 10 are;

1 - Chaos Battle of Wizards - Spectrum A zx classic. Every game is different and the fact that we are still playing it today is a testament to it greatness.
2 - Player Manager - Amiga Kickoff was already a great game. Add a league system that you can rename to your own preference and you have a game that you can get lost in for weeks...
3 - GTA Vice City - PC If there was ever a game that kick started the 80's revival then this has to be it. I lived back in the 80's when I first played this. The fashion's, the music, the themes...
4 - Skyrim - PC An open world game that you can get lost in for weeks. I had been waiting for a decent first person game like this since I first played Adventure.
5 - Fallout 3 - PC I found this game so playable there is so much to do and experience. You feel like Mad Max lost in a 1950's wasteland.
6 - Outrun 2 - Arcade You can't beat a thrilling racer and they don't come better than this. The original looked fantastic back in the day but this is more in line with how I'd like to play it.
7 - Bladerunner - PC My favourite film and Westwood captured the atmosphere brilliantly. So good in fact I like to think of it as an unofficial sequel.
8 - Silent Hunter III - PC There is just something very unnerving about being in a sub with warships trying to blow you out of existence. Finally we had a sub sim with realistic waves too enough to make you feel seasick!
9 - Kung Fu Master - Arcade - A simple but fun arcade game that seemed to be everywhere at the time. The bosses were particularly memorable too.
10 - Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 - PC - I enjoyed RC2 but this version lets you experience the rides and add your own music to them too!

I remember reading the reviews to the Blade Runner PC adventure game and meaning to buy it. Right another one on the ' to do ' list. Gog.com...

Not on GOG or steam.

I hope you get to enjoy the experience. The graphics may not have aged too well but the story is certainly an interesting one and still holds up today...

6 - Commando [Spectrum]
7 - Quazatron [Spectrum]
8 - Bomb Jack [Spectrum]
9 - Manic Miner [Various]
10 - Outrun [Arcade]

I might change my mind....

Oh, no! No room for Monty on the Run [Spectrum]. Now, how do I squeeze 11 in to 10...?
If you are going to put Monty on the Run in there - the C64 version is the same game but with amazing music!
I did consider the 64, but I find that the gameplay of the Spectrum is much tighter, less forgiving than the 64 and, despite being that bit more evil, the better game of the two. No doubting the stupendously good soundtrack for the 64, tho! :D Entry upon screen 2 in each version is proof in point.

Was the Speccy version harder than the C64 version?

1 - FINAL FANTASY VII (PS1)
2 - TOMB RAIDER (PS1/SAT)
3 - THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME (N64)
4 - SKIES OF ARCADIA (DC)
5 - FINAL FANTASY VIII (PS1)
6 - RESIDENT EVIL REMAKE (GC)
7 - FINAL FANTASY IX (PS)
8 - CIVILIZATION IV (PC)
9 - FOOTBALL MANAGER SERIES (PC)
10 - SSX TRICKY (PS2)
The square is a great shape, and one that is criminally underused in modern game design. In the push to ever more granular, chaotic environments, games have lost sight of the simple pleasures of right angles and straight lines.

Another Blade Runner fan! I loved that game. Really pushed my PC at the time to its limits (and often past them - CRASH!) Really nailed the atmosphere of the film.
