I think the problem with retro services/re-releases is that the popular games get released first and then the line will run out of steam before any of the more obscure stuff gets a chance. We've seen it happen with god knows how many Neo Geo re-releases where the famous stuff will get released first but then the interest dies in the service before anything else can be put out.

I think the 3D Classics series are definitely worth it for the attention and care that has so clearly been put into the presentation and options as well as the quality of the emulation which is superb.

That Turbo Outrun though...it must be released here! Kinda concerned that the 3DS is on its way out though in a sense so will more niche things like this make it to Europe?

The GBA was supported with new games till around 2007 when its last big releases were the Final Fantasy V and VI ports, a good few years after the DS launch, while the DS still got releases a good while after the 3DS launch (Pokemon B2W2 and heck, Frozen DS was the highest selling Nintendo console games of 2014 in the UK. ).

The 3DS will still be supported for a good while. They're starting a new Pokemon Generation on the 3DS with Sun/Moon which they'll probably release sequels/a 3rd version to that along the way before the eventual Pokemon game for NX is ready (Just how Black and White was a short gen to fill the void before XY) and we already have a fair few 3DS releases in 2017 coming. I'm sure SEGA could squeeze the 3rd Collection in there somewhere, but the important thing is that the collection in November does decent enough and there's people asking SEGA kindly to bring the 3rd collection over here.

I think with Sonic 2, Gunstar Heroes and Streets of Rage 2 are big enough well known hits alone to sell it anyway....

You really shouldn't be concerned. The 3DS is getting massive support from Nintendo at the moment, it really is in its element. There's plenty of quality full price releases coming out (check out 3DS Collecting thread), a thriving indie scene and the virtual console is continuing with all these SNES games! Even the streetpass plaza had a full update last month! I wonder if the 3DS with be integral to the new NX... similar to how the Vita is to the PS4. Perhaps it will work as a secondary controller, or even as a second screen?

The next game in the 3rd collection is Thunder Force III

Well yeah, mainstream stuff will be okay but I'm just wondering about stuff like the 3D Classics given how they mostly appeal to just us retro heads. Well, guess we can just wait and see!

I will be surprised if the 3DS is integral to NX...I mean, there are some great possibilities and a healthy install base but the hardware itself must be due to be replaced soon if you consider the traditional hardware lifetime cycle. Again, guess we'll just wait and see!

And don't forget the rumors about the NX using carts/cards like 3DS. Wouldnt be surprised if it had 3DS Backwards Compatibility as a selling point.

I nearly seltzered myself when I saw that Thunderforce 3 is the next game announced for the 3rd collection. Just hope it comes out here too.

SEGA has acquired all of Technosoft's IP, hence the Thunder Force III inclusion.

Be interesting to see where this goes, both here and outside of the 3D Classics range....

Bit underwhelming after Turbo Outrun and Thunder Force III but oh well, still a good package.

We're getting a physical release of the second collection.

They only just announced the two new ones for Japan, it might take a few months before they announce these as eShop titles here.

Has anyone seen anything of the PAL release of SEGA 3D Classics vol. 2? This was announced a few months back for a 4th November release. Nowhere seems to have this listed.

The 3D Classics Collection is now available on the Australian e-shop, I guess it will be available in Europe too?
Can't wait to play Power Drift again. 8)
