Ten is pushing it a bit for what, by anyone's standard,s has been a quiet year. Here's my top games:
1) Dark Souls 2 - You can argue whether it is better or worse than the other games but I was addicted to this and will probably pick up the re-release.
2) Titanfall. Big robots, fun shooter.
3) Mario Kart 8. Still playing it, but not as good as sonic racing transformed
4) Bayonetta 2. A bit disappointing but still a good game
5) South Park SoT. The battle system was simple and it's pretty easy but this is the funniest game I've ever played.
6) Sunset Overdrive. I enjoyed it, would have been better if they had dispensed with modern tropes like open world and an insistence on shooting in every game.

If it's slower than me, dumber than me and it tastes good ... tough titty.

All the Diablo love has encouraged me to buy it, a wee pre-Christmas treat. My top 10 list may change if it's as good as you're all making out.SirClive wrote:Glad to see the love for Diablo 3, really enjoyed that.

It's digital crack, just horribly addictive stuff. Smashing game.look at it sideways wrote:All the Diablo love has encouraged me to buy it, a wee pre-Christmas treat. Even I liked it, and I normally hate that kind of game, still a bit repetitive thoughSel Feena wrote:It's digital crack, just horribly addictive stuff. Edited my list to put Dragon Age: Inquisition in the number two slot. I'm 30+ hours in now and it's a stunning game for rpg geeks like me.

Re: Your top 10 games of 2014
Most of the stuff I've bought over the year.... okay, nearly all of it.... wouldnt be recognized by anyone on this forum. So I'll choose only from the list of the few that *might* be recognizable, or the few console games I did buy.
1. Nuclear Throne
2. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
3. Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax? My memory is foggy as usual so that name may be wrong.
4. LittleBigPlanet 3
5. Tomadachi Life
6. Super Mario 3D World
7. Five Nights at Freddy's 1 & 2
8. Mario Kart 8
Uhhhh....
I've pretty much run out at this point. There's about a bazillionty other games I've bought over the course of this year, but they either dont fit that restricted list, or they do but I still dont consider them high enough. And because I buy so many so frequently I'm also probably forgetting a bunch of them, but that's fine. The list works well enough.

Re: Your top 10 games of 2014
Top games we played in 2014? Not released in 2014, right? Mine in no particular order:
- Divinity: Original Sin (PC). Best RPG of the year for me!
- South Park: The Stick of Truth (PS3). I knew it had good reviews, still it was better than I expected. I really enjoyed it, despite not being familiar with the show. Some things were really funny
- The Swapper (PC). Brilliant sci-fi puzzler with a cool ending
- Persona 4 Golden (PS Vita). I don't know how I had missed this.
- 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors (3DS). Never played anything like it. And I mean it as a good thing
- Virtue's Last Reward (PS Vita). 999's sequel. Possibly even better than the original, it god rid of the only thing I didn't like in the first game.
- Assassin's Creed Black Flag (PS4). Ok, probably the worst game of this top 10, but I loved it. PIRATES!
- Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies (3DS). I'm a fan of the series, so as long as they keep releasing the same game with new characters and stories, I'm happy
- Tearaway (PS Vita). Nice little platform, fun and inventive
- Child of Light (PS4). Great atmosphere and great art direction. Looks like a painting and plays well too

In truth, I haven't played many this year but will let you know what I've enjoyed. Some aren't new, technically
1. Diablo 3 - Excellent, and is definitely digital crack.
2. Resogun - Great fun.
3. Zen Pinball 2 - looks lovely on PS4.
4. AC Black Flag - The best since AC2 and looks great on PS4.
5. Destiny - Why has this received flak? It's great.
6. Jeanne D'arc - Played this far too many years too late, best game for PSP.
7. More to follow, hopefully.
