It's great. Captures the spirit of those old games, while modernising it for today's gamers. It's the shovel knight of point and click adventures.

Any non-spoiler info about what the difference between causal and hard mode is?

Hard mode is more like the classic adventures, ie. more items, puzzles, things to do with the items in order to solve puzzles whereas Casual mode is a more streamlined, almost 'guided' experience. Ive played over 11 hours now in Casual mode and not once have to 'cheat', and this is a first for me, being a horrible, serial cheater. So Casual is more for the 'today' gamer - the programmers have really done a good job of keeping both worlds happy.

Just finished in casual mode. That was a blast, a great game. Only the ending, I was just started to really laugh, just as it started getting to the best bit it kind of stopped abruptly, in my opinion anyway. Basically, I wanted more! But perhaps there's more in Hard mode, I don't know.

Best adventure in years, doesn't pip Monkey Island 2 in my opinion because when I think about it Monkey Island 2 has remained the best adventure of all time due to the hearty laughs it gives you, the comedy in it is top notch and doesn't let up. Thimbleweed Park is a bit different, more quirky, not so focused on the laughs. Which is fine, as it's a different game and offers a different experience, but for me MI2 still keeps top position, but I'm not complaining, I wish there was a game like Thimbleweed Park coming out every damn year! Just missed Ron Gilbert's magic, he has proven once again he is king in the genre.

I get that, feels like it should have had one more act. Hardcore mode will give us more puzzles to solve. I am so glad I backed this on KS. Lets hope the sales are great so they will make more

I agree, it was such an absolute joy to play a game like that again I forgot how it felt, I really hope more games are made by Ron and co. I'm going around again in Hard mode now, already lots more items and with the new puzzles feels even more like a classic adventure.

On a similar theme is The Cave any good? How does it rank alongside other Gilbert adventures?

The Cave is well Worth playing. Its a good puzzle platform game. A lot of people were disappointed when it was released. They were expecing an adventure game like Monkey Island.
