Ancient thread, and one I've strangely never posted in.

For the record, I'll give anything a go but 2D platformers and RPGs float my boat most.

SHMUPS, proper old-style RPG’s, text-adventures and anything weird and unusual…
Fighting games that don’t take themselves too seriously, or have a ridiculously steep learning curve (Yes, Street fighter – I’m looking at you!)

Funny how things change.

Western RPGs now dominate for me. Bethesda are number one (obviously) but after a nice intro to that sort of thing by Fable? the rest is history, Sacred 2? Two Worlds? Fallout 3? NV etc etc

FPS games are still up there but only after a huge sabbatical, Black Ops 2 got me back into them (as a throw away bit of a doss) and BF4 has only just got me back to enjoying how they should be.

2D fighters (I'm sorry to say) have had their day for me. They will always be included in my fave genre but that is solely on my fave game of all time being SFIIce ..... I would still play that every day if I had a JAMMA cab.

Your 11th post to be exact, though you'd already mentioned SF in a couple of your previous posts.

I don't really have one, so can enjoy pretty much anything aside from bullet hell shooters or the more technical fighting games

The sock is always needed.

Your post just made me curious as to how close it was.

I'll say shmups. I suspect I posted that previously, but can't be bothered reading the whole thread again.

RPG by a long shot, though i think there isn't any genre that i haven't played and found at least 1 game to be fun

it has changed from when i was younger, when i wouldn't touch RPG's with a 10 feet pole and platformers and fighting games were my preferred ones

Well said.

It's platformers, racers and sports games in that order for me, basically. I'm not adverse to minigame compilations or the odd puzzle game either.

Mostly 2D platformers, shoot-em-ups, top-down racers, pinball, on-rails shooters and rhythm-action...

The genres I DON'T like to play are:

-2D fighters
-Kart racing games
-Modern FPS things
-RPGs
-3D platformers
My comics blog (mostly lesser-known UK stuff from the 80s and 90s)

Probably driving games - I've wasted more hours on Nitro and Supercars 2 on the Amiga, Mario Kart on the SNES (and subsequent consoles) and Forza 2-4 on Xbox 360 than I care to imagine.

I still play Forza 2 in fact, and frequently do 75 lap races with a mate online.

I guess I play driving games the most, but could I say they are my favourite which is the threads question! Hmmmm....i hate labelling "favourites".
