Hi guys, we're looking to do a feature which celebrates excellent box art. Post your favourites - as many as you like! - and tell us why you like them, and you might see them - and your words - in the magazine.
Here's a personal favourite, from a recent pick-up: Joe is looking pretty awesome, sneaking around in the dark there.

More Japanese Mega Drive lovin' from me:
I just love the composition, colours and detail on this one, especially the way Blaze is taking her jacket and gloves off in readiness for a fight. The PAL version is criminally bad compared to this and the US version not much better.
Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

The Japanese box art to Gain Ground on the Mega Drive is my all time.
Although it is very similar to the PAL cover there is just something that makes the Japanese version standout. The American cover on the other hand is horrendous

All. Day. Long. Why? Because it's Doom.

Captures the feel of the game perfectly - a on man army who will destroy anything that gets in his way
Even now it still looks futuristic. What does that text say? Whi knows, but it looks cool
Things are going to get smashed up. Nuff said.
Colourful, attention grabbing, tells the story without any words needed

The PS1 version of the Doom box is ace but the original just pips it for me. Wipeout was always ace too.
I'll add

100% agree... Love that box art. Had a poster of that on my wall I'm sure.

Shadow Of The Beast. Not just for the amazingly surreal artwork but also just like any good alternative music, the cover art is not actually in the game nor has nothing to do with it. I mean WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR?

Jap megadrive box covers in general have been some of my fav pieces of all time.
Jap Strider in particular is fantastic.
Some of the lame @ss junk that the US and UK got at times was just horrific. You did have to wonder how some people got the job in the first place to do the covers
