The thread just says to post cover art, it doesn't ask for any QC on that.

Some of the naff ones like Oric Trek are very nostalgic.

But wtf is going on with that Antiriad cover? They've changed it for a rerelease, but kept a similar composition with much worse painting. What was the point? May as well have used the original.

I agree; for a game cover to be memorable or classic, it doesn't have to look good - in fact the reverse is probably more true. I agree about the Antiriad box art, very poor and very unnecessary. The K+ budget re-release with Chuck Norris and Van Damme also doesn't look as good (although there's more reasoning for that), Most interesting for me so far is the 'Clinton/Hussein shaking hands' boxart; I wonder what boxart they used for the Euro/US release?

I'm confused. The thread title is "Post a classic game box cover." So we're posting a cover from a classic game or posting a classic cover of a game?

The latter, I suspect. Classic covers, regardless of game.

It's a quote from the excellent, very funny drama-documentary Micro Men. It you haven't seen it, and are a fan of the 80s, it's really worth watching. (on Youtube at the minute)

I preferred this thread when it was just the pictures.

Classic game?
Classic Box Art?
Classically terrible box art?

Whatever, just fire 'em up, it's just lovely seeing what people come up with & some of these bring a flood of nostalgia or at the very least a "weren't old game covers mad?"

Anyway, always loved this one, classic game & an 80s sportscar with my initials on a personalised numberplate....

A hell of a lot better than the PAL PS1 cover which is just the logo on a red background
