Home-Computers or Consoles?
The gaming landscape nowadays is very different from the 80s and 90s, but there is one similarity.
We still have computer based gaming and console based gaming, so I thought it would be interesting to see what people liked best from days gone by...

I started off with a console (an Atari 2600) but I really caught the gaming bug when I got a Speccy.

Retro gaming on computers like the Speccy and ST. Modern gaming on consoles like the PS1.

Consoles for me, they are generally better machines for playing games on and so they should be, it's what they were designed for.
Re: Home-Computers or Consoles?
Up to '85 it was computers all the way. After that, i switched to consoles and remain firmly in that camp to this day.

Re: Home-Computers or Consoles?
The only PC we had until I was around 15 was an ancient 386 which could barely run anything, so almost all my gaming was console based

Re: Home-Computers or Consoles?
My first console has been a Playstation. Before that, Commodore computers blew any console out of the water

I was growing up on consoles but I have switched almost completely to computer gaming in the recent few years. I still like to discuss retro (and modern) console gaming, though.
"Computers" is a broad term, btw. Basically all gaming (or non-gaming) capable systems are "computers", they're just different in their capabilities and functions.

Re: Home-Computers or Consoles?
"Back in the day" I was always a half n' half kid: a Nintendo fanboy from the NES onwards, it was the first machine I ever bought with my own money so I've a soft spot for it. But I'd be lying if I said consoles were my predominant gaming platform, as we progressed from Amstrad to Atari ST to Amiga to PC. Computers were the thing for gaming, and while I enjoyed it the NES was more a sort of sideline to the computers for gaming purposes.
Nowadays though I'm a console man thru and thru.

Consoles for me every time. PC owners must all drive BMWs. Looking down their noses at console owners with this kind of faux superiority and smug countenance.

I think you're talking about "PC elitists".gman72 wrote:Consoles for me every time. PC owners must all drive BMWs. Looking down their noses at console owners with this kind of faux superiority and smug countenance.

Look at Steam hardware stats - most have PCs that are worse from the current consoles. Maybe even from last-gen ones as integrated graphics just aren't very good for gaming.
