Your favourite *new* retro game

Post by Rich@Option4Studios » Sat Mar 22, 2014 9:11 am

I've taken great joy in seeing new games coming out on mobile devices which hark back to retro times but with modern polish and technology. So I was wondering what are your favourite *new* retro games?

A few of mine are:

Tiny Towers (more for the visuals)
Toast Time
The Other Brothers

*Apologies if there is a similar thread going I've not seen, please redirect me if there is :)

Its not retro if its a new game. "Retro styled" is the phrase you are looking for

How did you get a picture on? I haven't been able to post a picture for about a year! My fave retro style game is FTL. Old school cool. Old school cool... I dunno why I said that, trying to sound young? Oh dear

Super Stardust. If I had a PS4 it would probably be Resogun I'm guessing.

Retro as an adjective actually means 'imitative of a style or fashion from the recent past', so style is already in the meaning of the word.

Either way, people will know what I mean from the thread

G.G Series Collection Plus

A collection of 30 retro style games on one DS cart. I need to get this game again at some point - almost all the games I unlocked were really fun - in particular the penguin one...

I played Super Stardust on the PS3 recently. It looked great but did I miss something or was the old Asteroid mechanics of floating around almost uncontrollably not there? I miss that.

Bloo Kid 2 (ios)
Limbo - love the way it looks and the simple retro style gameplay of mostly left right and jump

Gotta agree with this. VVVVVV was great. I enjoyed it the moment it came out. And then it became widely acclaimed...

 I thought something had gone awry with your post. I haven't heard of that game before, looks cute. Nice soundtrack too.
